Just pace yourself.Definitely not a gravel travel 70km. The terrain is the real killer, not the distance or climbing. Lots of thick sand and lots and lots of rocks.

So true...toughest 70km I have ever done by a long way. The soft grass sand rocks etc make it taxing on your legs. Good luck to all those doing it .

I will be popping my Magalies Monster cherry on Saturday. You guys are making me poop myself. I entered for the 70km thinking "how hard can it be?"

My setup will be whatever I am given to ride.

Will most likely be a Spez Camber.

120mm travel front and rear

Probably a 28t 1x11 setup

If it is stock standard, Spez Purgatory 2.3 up front and 2.3 Groun Control rear.

Dropper post if there is any single track to handle.

I will go to this event purely to survive. My roadie legs are not going to get me through this at race pace.

It will be my first, doing it on 29er carbon 1x11. We did Breedtsnek on saturday from Hekpoort (61km) and it was ok so I think I should finish decently on Saturdat.

Its not breedsnek that you have to worry about,

Let us know on Monday how you found the monster

My first one too and I'm getting a bit nervous if I'm honest.
