If one is having a conversation in Afrikaans, about rugby, do you still refer to the Sharks of die Haaie ?Heard a presenter on the wireless the other day in an Afrikaans news report , refer to the New Zealand cricket team as Die Swart Pette. Surely that's wrong ?

Surely that's wrong ?Nope, that is quite right - die Swart Pette! The correct Afrikaans reference to the Sharks is ...., die Haaie!Dit is n goeie vraag mbt die All Blacks. Ek vermoed daar is uitsonderings, en dit kan dalk een so geval wees.Ek is baie lief vir Afrikaans, en dink dit is n mooi beskrywende taal. Ek probeer dit so suiwer en korrek as moontlik te praat. In die groter prentjie van tale is Afrikaans baie jonk, en steeds aan die ontwikkel.

In SA praat ek van die Bulle, Leeus, Haaie, maar snaaksgenoeg sê ek altyd Cheatahs en nie jagluiperds nie.

Ja-nee?I mentioned earlier that I think it's a French word, but it just became the norm to call it derailleur I guess.
