Hi Awesme

do you perhaps have the details of who found it? I took the details of the guy that lost the Garmin but no garmin was handed in, so it would be great if we can get it back to the owner

As usual excellent job by PJ, Louis, Richard and their guys! Marking excellent and some interesting bits even for us locals

Crazy how the weather changed just between yesterday and today

Nice to finally meet HarryN!

Mmmm that pesky CX bike thing ... But I did finish just 1sec behind him

Thanks for the kind words Ben! Glad you enjoyed it

I had a chat to Brandon (the rider of the CX bike) before the race to explain that its not allowed. He knew the rules but just wanted to ride to check the reaction of the MTB riders when he blew past them   :w00t:

So anyone can enter the Fast One and ride Gravel/CX/Monstercross bikes?

Is the UCI/CSA rule only a suggestion?

@Jcza. As mentioned i had a chat to the rider to advise that the CX bike is not allowed, he knew that but said he didnt mind being DQ'ed as he was just riding for fun. No harm in a bit of fun i guess

Reminds me of last year when one of the riders pedal snapped before the finish, removing his helmet and walking next to his bike pushing it over the finish he was threatened with DQ. Nice to know CSA take note of real important stuff and not trifling stuff.

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to go round in circles but battle to understand the "rules". You say it is not allowed but the rider participated and is listed as an official finisher. We are all riding for fun.

Btw, when it comes to arbitrary rules, I reckon the sleeveless top ban, definitely takes the cake!

the rider in question is usually a podium contender, if he had ridden competitively he would have been DQ'ed, he is not in the prizes and doesn't feature as a category contender in this race so it wasn't considered necessary to remove him from the results. If somebody were to complain about him being on the results he would be removed but in all honesty i do not see this as an issue. The guy rode his CX bike for fun and in no way affected the outcome of the race so IMO its a non issue
