Don't see why it wouldn't work. Got oodles of clearance on my 11-42 and it is a long cage RD after all.

True, for some reason I thought it was a med cage, but checked the site now and it is a long.

Wonder what they Eagle then ? X-tra long :-)

What size chainring are you running, and how many links are you running on your chain?

I'm currently running a 32t front, 11-42T rear, and 116 links on my chain. I'm assuming that I'll have to add a few links to that, if I'm going to 46t. Was also thinking about going 34t up front.

Choosing between a 32T and a 34T chainring was a painstaking affair which involved calculators and sleepless nights :D

I was on a 11-42 with a 30T chainring before. In the end I just considered what type of riding I prefer which is enduro rather than XC so I went for the 32T. I spend way more time spinning in the granny gear than topping out in the high gear. I could probably have managed the 34T just fine but when the climb gets really steep I prefer to spin like a hamster than to push the bike.

Is the top cog on this Alu ?

In their own words:

"The Sunrace MX8 11 Speed Wide Range cassette is built with light weight alloy cog carriers, hard wearing chromoly cassette cogs and an all alloy 42t or 46t cog to keep the weight down and drivetrain stiffness up."

That's correct, I am running 1x.

Well, there's your problem.

I run 2x10 and never have these problems.

You can remove the flame suit....as long as you have clothes on underneath :D

No arguing that 1x has compromises but for those of us converts the pros outweigh the cons. Just preference, no right or wrong here.

I still have my other bike that is still 2 x 10 and another that is 1 x 10 .I rotate riding them .When i finally found my sweet spot gearing for 1 x 11 i was hooked .I think there is very little between eagle 1 x 12 and Shimano / sunrace 1 x 11 .I prefer the sunrace cassette because of the gear spacing and the price is good ,especially when i tend to trash a setup with my 100kg rather quickly
