Heal up ICM and Shaper. You guys still did a good week though.

I just cannot understand how to get through a ride like that. Did my first 100km, alone in the wind and heat this weekend, and 3 hours in I was ready to call it a day. I think mentally those long rides are harder than anything else.

Still think a full IM is crazy distances, and it's easy to forget that at times.

Thanks, my HR has returned to normal but my head still full of snot so gonna ease for a day or 2 longer. No point in rushing it.

As to the distances, a year ago you would of said the half was crazy, now you have done it. Next year you do the full then not so crazy.

Must say I ain’t looking forward to T2... 8 hours in more or lessand then still a marathon to go....but you just put one foot in front of the other and go. The swim an bike are the easy part for me, it’s the run that hurts....however beer and pub food at barneys on the Monday in the afterglow makes it all worthwhile.... something very special about IM, Having an interest in psychology it always intrigues me.

Sjeesh, some impressive numbers on the Give-it-a-tri Strava group. I think I managed to scrape into the top 10 and I'm knackered after my biggest week of the year. (ICM and Shaper still managed top 10's even with a whole weekend of cancelled long rides/runs/swims). Triple kudos to you.

Thats awesome, good job

Were you in the cradle? I did a long slow 150 out there, took the whole morning and It got pretty warm by the end. I think most of the Argus masses were doing the Ride for Sight, but after the sh$tshow I've seen with massive groups riding like idiots the past few weekends, I was pretty happy to be alone.

Thanks. Yeah. I changed my long ride to Sunday, as I accidentally (hehe) drank a bottle of red wine on Friday evening. Got a late start, so only finished up at around 12:30. Had a puncture and a dropped chain too. Feeling more comfortable dealing with mechanicals on my own.

Felt like there were only two types of athletes out on the road yesterday: the die hard triathletes, and the more casual easy Sunday riders. All the smart people went home or for breakfast early in the morning.  :w00t:

Thanks but was more of a frustrating week than a good week, especially when I should be into the build and endurance phase with long distances... it happens, same as things happen on race day, you live with it and move forward from it !!

Stll battling with the flu a bit, and next week is going to be miserably cold so might have to open up the IDT box. Its all going a bit pear shaped at the moment with 5 weeks of training left.

All the best, hope you recover soon.

Yes, there is still plenty of time. it just means you can rock the last weeks harder!

Good luck man, feel your pain. Still sitting with my shoulder. Taking my daughter to XTerra kids today, knowing I'll be missing out. But at least it got me into the water and believing I can do this.

Heal up, hit the IDT next week. This couple of days off may have been a blessing in disguise.

Hope you get better soon! Don't panic, and (as you know...) you will do better to take an easy week and heal up than to suffer through a massive training week. You will be fine.

Thanks all. Ja, I know, must just put on my big gurl panties an suck it up. It’s part of life but hell its frustrating. Lovely sunny days ( but bitterly cold) and I cannot take advantage of em like I would like to. Will try a lil sedate cycling later just to get blood flowing.

Reality is, the work is done, the few weeks remaining is to top it up and fine tune. I have a massive block behind me over the last 6 months bigger than any other block prior to an Ironman however it’s nice to fine tune. Would of liked to do a 180 km cycle and a 32 Kay run which was earmarked for these 2 weeks but that’s not going to happen so will do a couple of 25 km runs and 100 km cycles between now and end of March.

Good luck to all. 5 weeks training left. 7 weeks today I wake up in beautiful PE, open my window and overlook the ocean. Kiss the wife and go for a little swim and relax in the luxurious warmth that is PE. While I swim I catch a glimpse of my IM band on my arm and realize just how fortunate I am to be there. A little coffee at that shop below Barney’s, a lil breakfast, a lil walkabout the expo. A lil bike ride to make sure all is good and go buy some supplies for IM. Then mebbe a beer at barneys before the pasta gorge. Man I get goose bumps

You'll get well very quickly once you hit the IDT :D

Do you guys ever meet up for coffee before or after the race to get to know each other a bit?

Think we should, maybe a Friday coffee close to the expo at boardwalk hotel and casino. I am going o be,in that area all day basically.

Stop guys. Have really bad FOMO...

:P

ICM, have you been to the doctor? You have a great base to work from, so you can use the last few weeks as consolidation. Just don't go out too hard. We are watching!   :whistling:
