My wife just doesn't get it!

My wife cycles, and gets why I want things!!

But she does not get why she must upgrade. She even insisted that I buy another bike.....

True story. So I bought a Santa Cruz, and she said this is the last one. ....

Found an upgrade for my MTB on The Hub with the group set and fork I needed/wanted/desired in my size. So drove the 100k round trip to buy it. When she saw 2 MTB's in the garage, all I got was a stare ... silence and then "En now".

Took some explaining that the pending sale of the old unit will offset the cost.

Sold, so alas, the equilibrium has been restored.

My wife's exactly the same.  When you REALLY want to share your excitement, but... no.

I imagine this has got something to do with prompting the recent scientific study, which showed that men need to get out of the house once or twice a week and socialise with their friends over a few beers, thus restoring equilibrium and balance to the family household.

OH come on - post that one! Winner

My wife named my new bike "Padrona" (mistress), because I spend more time riding my bike than.... well you know the rest

Says that she knows I love it more than her, but also knows that I can't get it pregnant.

Sure you can get your bike pregnant n+1

Ha ha ha...

This is a interesting subject.

I normally send a picture 1st of whatever I want to buy to the misses, Then the typical "don't you have that on your bike?" follows.

A simple "but is carbon my love" follows and then it comes.

How much....? as we all know its normally half the actual price less 10% ;)

and then just to top it off i tell her that I can sell the old parts on the hub for almost what I paid

Spoken like a true pro

You should try cycling more than 5 mins a week? :whistling:

Bought new frame, really tried saving money to spend at home, so used all my old parts , shifters , drivetrain and wheels from old bike. Win \ Win I thought. Not so much. Old wheels now toast , so casually mentioned might need new wheels. " Are you insane, you just got a new bike ? " Tried the quite obvious lie that new frame and new bike are different things, but alas no joy.

My wife actually gets me cycling stuff for my birthday and Xmas  How cool is that!

She gets it...I get it :w00t:

As much as it is a noble idea, I have politely banned my Wife and kids from buying me cycling stuff for any occasions, because they don't get it !

I feel your pain... this has always been the same no matter what the hobby or interest!

It does take a bit of input, but my last gift was this...
