Jakkals. Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Ya right. Think that one's flown the coup. He won't get away that easy again. By the way ... What a "Flat downhill?" LOLthe "-" makes all the difference, i suppose it could also have been a "/"
Cav' Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 I'm not the biggest Froome fan (For those who don't know..) But I don't believe we should jump to any conclusions after Froome's ITT performance. There are 3 very tough mountain stages in the next 4 days, thus we will only have an indication of his TDF form after the 3rd mountain stage. If he does badly against the rest in the summit finishes then I don't believe he'll achieve great form in just 3 weeks. But, I doubt he'll even get dropped.

He will be happy to see Chris miss.
Velouria Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I'd forgotten how awkward Froome looks on a bike. It hurts my eyes to watch, especially when compared to some of the other smooth riders. As a mate said: "He looks like he keeps getting his ball bag pinched on his saddle and is having to adjust his pedal stroke to 'free' it".
Pure Savage Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Yeah, but those W/Kg are nowhere near where he wants them to be, especially this close to the Tour. Unless he cuts some weight somewhere, Porte's gonna demolish him. I also feel the sky team at the TDF is a lot stronger than the likes of BMC, so that alone will swing in Froome's favour. Seeing as Froome faded towards the end of the tour last year after a cracking Dauphine, maybe they are planning a latter peak? I would not bet against a team that has a single goal a season too quickly.

Cav' Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 I also believe that Porte got a lot of confidence after Tejay Van Garderen admitted he's not cut out for GC. Which is great for him psychologically. (That feeling of being numero uno is priceless)
Cav' Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 The sprinter's teams won't want a break to succeed again today as this is their last shot for a stage in this years Dauphiné. I expect a battle again today between Demare. Kristoff, Bouhanni and Coquard.

J Wakefield Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Yeah, but those W/Kg are nowhere near where he wants them to be, especially this close to the Tour. Unless he cuts some weight somewhere, Porte's gonna demolish him.Yes and no again, Typically you want to peak at at GT in the 2nd week, not the 1st and hope for the last 2 weeks and if you look at this years Tour route there only 4 key stages in that time, the rest are medium mountains. As a Top GT contender you can fake those pretty well. His prep is maybe different this year to previous so if you work his training backwards, maybe this is the start of his quality work which essentially ends at the Tour when it counts. Same as Contador who has said this is the start of his intensity and has no huge expectations and the team he has is far from the Team he is taking to the Tour. Yes, Porte is flying, no doubt, he has been all year, as per normal Chris is below par compared to years past but Contador then by all things and any other GT hopeful like Bardet, might as well not go to the Tour cause they aren't smashing Dauphine according to you. There some big mountain stages ahead, Tour contenders will all be gathering data from it and each other. The Tour isnt just about numbers and pre race results but it is important. Giro was a perfect example of Pre-Tour form and races results.
