I paid R1500 for rear brain service. I got 14000 km on my 2014 epic. I commute daily in all conditions. Just done the 100 miler and I'm still on the same pivots. Apart from a drivetrain replacement at 8500km my bike has not cost me an arm or a leg.so I really don't know where okes are servicing their bikes.

u do any of that on Spez yourself warranty is out the door

Not true. I know of 2 cracked frame warranty claims on bikes the owners serviced themselves. Both replaced no problem. The only proprietary thing on a Spez is the Brain, and they insist on that being serviced in Stellenbosch.

It is... and I agree PF bbs are the worst thing that has happened to cycling in a long time. Mine creaks non stop even 2 or 3 rides after a service (bike is less than a year old). My other old mtb with threaded bb is perfect after 10 years of use!

What bb are you now using? Looking to replace mine with one that doesnt creak every time I turn the cranks!

Get a wheels MFG BB when you replace it. I replaced my SRAM PF30 in my Epic with one of these and it has not missed a beat in the last 3+ years. The bearings are replaceable as they sit in an alu housing. It cost me like R800 back then. One of the best things I have done to my bike

Wheels MFG self pressing BB , once its in the frame it never comes out so you also don't remove a tiny layer of carbon with every replacement.

+ its dead silent

and when the bearings are kaput you moer them out and replace ( probs R120 for new ones R280 for stainless)

The shell doesn't ever need to come out of the frame !!

This is an investment so don't get discourage by the price, I'll buy one of these If I ever get A frame with A PF BB.

I wanted to get this for my son's Giant, but they could not supply me with one (PF92), so I bought one from Enduro. Same concept, just as expensive, if not more, but bloody well worth it. I got the version with the XD15 bearings.
