I'm trying to courier a bike from Hilton, KZN to Bloemfontein with out charging the guy I'm sending it to a small fortune.

Its being sent in a bike box 127x78x15 and weighs 9.5 kg's, most online quote systems i'm using charge based on volume and not weight and i keep on getting quotes back of up to a grand.

Anyone know of any company that charges reasonable rates?

Thanks,

Rob

Are there no hubbers travelling from there to Bloem?

I am sure that is somebody has the space available, they will transport it for you.

Cant go wrong with Fastway Couriers. Very efficient and inexpensive. Used often and very impressed.

Yea, Fastway is not bad, unless you send to some random remote place...

My experience is that couriers from Durban are a rip off.

My best advice is to arrange a pick up with an outside courier, in this case Bloem, and deal with them directly.

I have saved half the price by doing it this way.

Only slight drawback is that if you dont have an account they wont collect. You need to take the item to them and pay cash.

Am looking at a set of 26inch wheels in the classifieds. Inquiring about pricing with courier companies mentioned above. Anyone have an idea of what sort of size box wheels would be transported in? I presume the seller would need to package them but just an idea so I can see if its worth it. It would need to be sent from Richards bay to Joburg.

I've had good experiences with Internet Express as well. Fatima there is the go to lady and works wonders. She's shipped stuff to the middle if the middle of nowhere and at half the price of others.

I used a 60 inch TV box to package a set of wheels . The quick release spindles must be removed and packaged in a separate box and tapped inside . Use some of the polystyrene to wedge the wheels in place . The arrived undamaged to my customer .

A wheel box with one 26" wheels and other stuff cost R160 through SAPO.

I got a set of road wheels through Postnet (bubble wrapped to oblivion-no box) for R200

According to my experience, no Courier has a standard price.  In Durban at least, they are highly negotiable to the point of being half  the price sometimes.

I find Aramex to be the best company I have ever used, time and time again. Deliver to your door for the same price as Postnet.

Goods much just fit into the bag though.
