Headshot Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I thought I'd get in first with this one :-) I see they are saying that the track has seen some modification for this years event, but the punters are complaining on PB that its too easy or something. Looking forward to more Caluori insanity any time soon...
Tubehunter Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Come on Mr Min! Get on a streak for this season ekse!
Odinson Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Watched Wyn Master's go down the track and it is very bikepark-y. Not nearly the same level of technicality of other tracks.

Duane_Bosch Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Rant on. I don't know why everyone has such a saak with bikeparks. Bikeparks are where the people that ultimately pay the riders salaries like to ride. And last weekend most of the riders looked like kooks on the super tech boggy stuff. I don't know about you people but I don't want to see an ex world champ walk her bike through a tech section. That's just embarrassing. If you look at Downhill Skiing. Watch those okes coming down the Streif in Kitzbuel. They are HHHAAAAAUUUULLIINGGGG ASS on wide open ski pistes and the winning margins are hundredths of seconds. It's so incredibly exiting. Nowhere do they do a fiddly little section in the trees. If DH wants to be taken seriously they need to improve the show. A LOT!
Tubehunter Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Yes and no Duane. To a degree I get what you're saying, but when the speed gets to a level where an accident goes from something that can hurt, to something that can take your life then the sport has changed. Don't get me wrong, there's room for the high risk events, but they should not be a part of a world tour. Rather run them as speciality stand alone gigs.

I know i have none of the answers. But an ex World Champ running a section of trail. Eish! Maybe as a stand alone. A DH version of supercross mixed with a WSL format competition. Take a ski piste somewhere in Europe. Get a digger on it. Make some FAAAT jumps, hips, berms etc. 2 up racing but on big bikes. Double elimination like the WSL. Rider interviews (not with a ******* banana). Tech talk. etc.
Stretch Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Can the Minn make it two in a row? Is Rachel A gonna come back and claim her no spot again? gonna be great entertainment regardless!

Stretch Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Looks like another week of no racing for the athertons
PhilipV Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I think there is a time and a place for all the different tracks. Fort William has the rocky causeways, Leogang has the bike Park feel. Other tracks have technical forests. I like that they are different, it means the riders need to be skilled on many different tracks to be consistently good. The ft Bill hike-a-bike section was unfortunate. But it was also caused by rain. No one had to go down like a tripod in practice. It sucks that the ring has caused havoc again, and course builders can only go so far ito mitigating the risk of damp squib courses when wet.
Stretch Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 oh...didnt realise headshot had already created the thread.....thats my job dammit!
