The fact is, the route for this year makes for a lot more headaches in terms of who sits on the bench and who is in your team.

I quite like it... It entices the sprinters to hang on a bit longer before they pull the plug. It means attacks could get yellow for 4 days with a mountain finish followed by 2 or 3 sprint stages in weeks 2 and 3...

The TT at the start might see the winner in yellow for 4 days so it should be fiercely contested.

All in all it 'looks' as though it is enticing a more aggressive style of racing and not the 'sit on each others wheels till week 3' type we have had in recent years. With sprint stages separating mountain stages deep in the race it allows recovery between fireworks...

Well, that is what I am hoping for anyway... The classics specialists like Dagenkolb, Stybar, Greg van etc must be licking their lips at a few of the stages...

Picked my team on Monday, made a thousand changes over the past week, finally decided and settled, ended with same team I picked initially.

I'm leaving everything until 14h45. Then I have 15 minutes of panic and then it's over.

Are there no daily or spot prizes this year?

This year we've got weekly spot prizes:

Week 1 - Giro Synthe™

Awarded to a team containing the Green jersey holder at the end of Stage 7.
