"All I am saying is that there is way more to it than calories in and calories out. That is why there are fat people training their butts off and not losing any fat. "

Actually mathematically that is not correct.

If you use more energy than you consume, energy needs to be taken from stores. Energy cannot be created out of nothing. Well some on the Time to Believe thread might dispute that ????

1.You cannot target fat loss in specific areas by training that area.So you can do 1000 crunches a day you will /could still have belly/core fat.

2.Testosterone levels are key for older men so try and manage that.

3.Insulin stability is key when it comes to belly fat.

everyone has a 6-pack... for most though, it's covered in luxurious lard... take away that lovely blanket and let them abs shine through...

i find that biking gives a lot of side effects that are likely attributable to increased testosterone levels.

Insulin is claimed as the most important hormone. It would be a good idea to figure out how to keep it under control.

I have heard that if you face palm yourself often and hard enough that you burn sufficient calories to lose weight.

Your lips will also swell up making the pie hole smaller.

We are forgetting another very important aspect. Burning calories.

It's better to cycle than to run, as cycling burns a different type of calorie than running. Burning the cycling calories results in more weight loss.

Yes so I think the focus here is the blanket being on the core and nowhere else as per the initial post.So loads of guys go below 10% fat with veins popping everywhere but still have a bit of a tube...Some get abs early on but show fat in other areas.

The Belly thing seems to be closest related to age and hormone control.

You'll never out train a poor diet. Calorie tracking is a mind warp for most people when they first try it, because they don't realise how little food they actually require. Take a balanced diet, reduce it by X%, and you'll lose weight. Naturally there are anomalies who'll react differently, but for the VAST majority of humans weight loss is quite simple.

What I do find though is that fat people always have 10 reasons why it won't work...

Of course you can out-train a poor diet. You just need to train harder. See Horner, Chris as an example. From burritos for breakfast to super-size McDonalds meals.

I do however agree with you that calorie tracking is a eye opener and generally people consume calorie dense and nutrient poor food.

Then why do you spend so much time with running shoes on?

This may be true, and to control insulin levels, we need to cut out processed food. Processed food is the biggest culprit there. Cut out the junk, drink more water, eat fresh veg and fruit (no fruit juices!), good protein and fats and insulin levels will become steady.

Our bodies become better at telling what it needs and appetite control will be easier too without the insulin spikes caused by sugar. It's quite a thing to go through mentally due to sugar addiction. Throwing around fancy scientific terms makes the process harder and complicated. I am not a fan of tracking macros and calories as I think long term it is not sustainable. We need to get back to being able to understand what our bodies need. This is the only way we can keep the weight off and stop the yoyo dieting.

Agreed, you can out train a bad diet. But it's just a hell of a lot less effort to restrict intake.

People really underestimate how much energy is in a "normal" meal.

On Sunday I rode 6h30 mins easy pace. That was 3000cals, or one Very large Pizza with extra cheese and a Coke. MUCH easier to rather just not eat the pizza....
