Marius Posted October 10, 2006 Share the site is also dodge, some times I get a pic of one Rim that's not quite "deep section" and the other time I get a pair of wheels that's lekker deep, so now I don't know how they 'really" look...
Jason Posted October 10, 2006 Share So you either get 1 set of ZIPP 404's or 12 Pro Lite sets???Hmmm tough decision... With the ZIPPS you will look the part and all pro... With the Pro Lite's you'll have a team car following you with the other 11 sets you purchased and still look pro...hmm tough decision... which one? Then again, to do a 100km race you might use all 12 sets and have to replace them for the next race. I dunno, what's the quality like on these wheels? At 2,2kg's I reckon IRON is pretty tough... sheesh this is tougher than I thought... Nah ZIPPS!
bikemonster Posted October 10, 2006 Share Can't quite figure out how they thought to name them "Pro-Lite" I think it's in the same way that Coke Lite is like Coke, but less so. These wheels are like "pro" wheels, only less so. Only in this case, more is definitely less!
101% Posted October 10, 2006 Share Dont forget the extra weight for the long valve tube you'll need!
Jason Posted October 10, 2006 Share Dont forget the extra weight for the long valve tube you'll need! Oh yeah I forgot about that... darn it... now it's tougher than I thought... Maye 808's with a 6m valve? If I'm gonna go BIG I might as well do it properly and go all the way?... even maybe get two disc wheels for the back and front... do they make front ones? smallrebel Posted October 11, 2006 Share You are all looking at the wrong wheels: http://www.pro-lite.net/framework/base.htm The Como is the entry level wheels.
NotSoBigBen Posted October 11, 2006 Share Saw an oke sunday with a 'normal' rim but with one of those extra long valves, flippin heck it nearly looked like an extra spoke!
smallrebel Posted October 11, 2006 Share What's wrong with that? I've got 3 set's of wheels and some of my riding buddies have deep section wheels. Cannot buy different tubes for all the wheels, so buy the one that will fit in all of them.
NotSoBigBen Posted October 11, 2006 Share Never thought of that (no comments from the peanut gallery please!), it was a training ride so perhaps he was on his training wheels who knows!
scotty Posted October 11, 2006 Share Yup it can be a problem. I have Eastons which take long valve and mavics which take short ones, luck would have it i puntured with my Eastons and only had a short valve spare tube. Luckily one of the guys i was riding with had an Presta/Shraeder convertor and we used the MTB option on the pump.
Joss Posted October 13, 2006 Share Morne Bester Cycles was selling them at R 1000.00 per set. Nice price for a set of training wheels i say. And at 2.2kg they will work very well as training wheels.
bikemonster Posted October 13, 2006 Share Am I missing something here? These are heavy wheels and they are not aero (which would make the weight penalty worthwhile), so why would a person want them?Could it be the web site's promise of loose balls, I wonder?
