Alpinestars Flow Gloves

Is the Alpinestars brand a good brand? I really thought so, having seen how many pro's use their products. I was treated to a very nice birthday present from my wife back in March, with which I got myself the Allmountain Frame Protection kit for my bike and a pair of Alpinestars Flow mtb gloves. The gloves, valued at around R549 (if I could remember correctly) was used for 12 rides only - exactly (according to my Strava)

12 rides in ....

Over R500.

My previous gloves lasted for 2 years. Lots of riding. Thor gloves.

Is this normal? My wife feels gutted about the gift. I am speechless.

What do I do?

(Yes, I had 2 beers after my last enduro)

Buy Thor again , or any MX glove really.

I'm surprised the alpine stars gave out so quickly .... I know the brand is leaving SA so that may or may not help you to get A replacement set under warranty.

Fox gloves have always served me well , my set of reflex's still look new after A year ( they weren't cheap but also not as expensive as spez gloves for instance)

That's ridiculous. My set of Bontragers are still going strong after a years or more. And ... it definitely didn't cost that much. Claim for what it's worth.

you will not be a first, I also have heard from other people complaining they don't last. I have a different pair I got in Canada last year that is pretty durable so far.

Same happened to mine after about 4 rides (half on the road!).  Took it back to This Way Out and they exchanged it for a nice pair of winter gloves - no questions.

It is specifically the ones without padding with the synthetic suede type fabric that seem to be really crap.

Had the same experience with Alpinestars gloves...my personal opinion...overpriced crap.

I used Thor MX gloves and they just will not die. I've had good results with Fox mtb gloves as well but if you are looking for long lasting gloves stick to MX gloves.

I've got a pair of O'neal mx gloves that gets used for motorbiking and mtbing. Have held up for 3 years with no issues.

Paid like R300 for them at the local motorbike place.

I bought some Alpinestars motorbike gloves and after 5 or 6 rides they were also toast.

Worn through like the OP.

Never again.

Bought Fox cheapies and they're holding up well.

I very almost pulled the trigger on some F-lites yesterday. Read some reviews and all complain about durability.

Will rather buy some other brand. Gloves are hell expensive lately, where can I get some decent gloves for under R400? Shreddtech has Royal gloves for R275-310, but not in my size or preferred colors.
