As it has happened before and you in WC, maybe is more the salt in the air rather than moisture especially as up here in JHB we are not having the same issues with water and moisture damage

I have had an external battery on my road bike sine late 2011 with not a single water issue. The battery sits under the rear chin stay where it get soaked and full of dirt. It's survived plenty rides in the rain and the hose pipe at full pressure.

Exactly - moisture damage sounds like an excuse from the Brand in honoring their warranty...

Your problem is not with the product, its with the local distributor.Sorry but Coolheat have given NO backup for years.I can't believe they still got that agency. It should have been given to CWC years ago.Thats the reason you won't find a single shimano product on any of my bikes.

Made the switch 10 years ago.

They so anal about buying local and not supporting grey products but when you have a hassle ,you left out to dry.

Good luck commuter, hope you come right.

so.... you're running Campagnolo then? Incidentally, Anal Cog Mop, is an anagram of Campagnolo.

Just a side note I also changed from electric back to mechanical after I broke the electric cable going to my rear derailer ( 1000 times my fault) but was a R6000 mistake.

Is it a faulty battery affected by moisture or are the terminals corroded?

Terminals are not corroded - it is only Shimano's word that it is moisture damage, there is no visible moisture damage to the battery - it looks as new as it it is...

Very odd that....I see why you would be so pissed.

When you get the battery back, open it up and inspect it yourself. Maybe get an electronic engineer friend to help you.

It will be easy to see if it really is moisture damage or something else wrong. And then sommer fox it if need be.

Of it really is moisture damage, then you know shimano's quality control is crap. If it isn't, then you'll know that coolheat is crap.

the battery actually easily comes apart.

its 2x clips either side.

take the battery to coolheat and open it in front of them on camera

then ask them to find the water damage. it should be readily identifiable.
