Yes that per brake :)

Making it R3,858 per set? Thereby 60% more than another online store.

Edit: Point being, i would rather wait a few days longer and settle for the lower price. But hey, that's just me.

oh dear.

that's R1929 x 2 = R3858

Cheaper than buycycle, but not really the rest.

these got that as basically the RRP, but it's on discount to R3295

https://www.evobikes.co.za/shimano-slx-m7000-brakeset.html

for R2695

https://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-slx-disk-brakes-br-m7000-set-g02s-resin.html

and then the crowdpleaser comes in at - even their RRP is at R3599

R2399 - http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-slx-m7000-disc-brake-set

with online stores, everyone is going to shop around. I assume the online stores do that a bit too?

What can I do with an "ASG point"?

Hi Rider #35

Thanks for the question.

ASG Points is our loyalty program that can be used both online and in-store.

(You will need to register an account to earn points, don't worry it is free)

There are a few different ways that you can spend ASG Points on asgthestore.com

1. You can use them to discount any purchase that you make online  (This will equate to a small discount on any purchase)

OR

2. We offer exclusive ASG point-only promotions to our newsletter subscribers that reward customers that have saved enough ASG points to purchase the item. (This will equate to a much larger discount)

We are planning on integrating the points system with other ASG departments such as ASG Events & ASG Travel - This way when you enter an event, travel etc... you can earn and spend your points across the entire ASG eco system.

Currently you can earn ASG points by purchasing anything on asgthestore, creating a user account and subscribing to the newsletter.

If you want to know anything else about ASG Points give me a shout!

I'm looking for value when I shop online.

That is number one for the majority of shoppers - they don't care whether they have to wait 1 or 2 days extra to get it, it's all about the price.

ASG = expensive

Races etc. are the same...

You can get XT's for less...

Can get a lot online for less that are better unfortunately. Wanted to keep it local and ASG have always done good before but I think I'm going to go for Formula Cura, new rotors, getting free fitting and still saving coin!

So I was driving home in the glorious Gauteng traffic, and I was thinking "How can I show these guys how cool the ASG point system is?" and it occured to me "Why not just let them try it"  ^_^

So this is the deal - next 20 guys to register their free ASG account gets 1000 ASG Points to use as they wish, on me

Also the guys complaining about price - Totally agree with you. Currently most of our products are listed at RRP, over time we will adjust our products to be more competitive. The best deals, however will always be through the points-only offers or from dealers that stock our brands.

Thanks for the feedback!

Registered and only got 100 points

Hi BaGearA

I am doing them manually so it may take a minute to get to your account -  it will show the 1000 points and send you a notification.  The 100 you already have is automatic for creating the account and signing up for the newsletter :)

Your total account should show 1100

We are asking you to help us upload products that you would like to see on the Online Store.

Hi ASG and Wouter

I am reasonably new to cycling, after many years off bikes.  Which also means I have done a LOT of window shopping ... both in-store and on-line .....

I have actually been in your Paarl Laborie store a few times .... bought a TREK, and a Momsen (kids) at your neighbour.

Nice store, but limited range ..... (same as your neighbour)  Seems this is typical specialist brand outlets.   This is not a negative comment !  You are aiming for a specialist market ....

targeting the mass market is a totally different game.  And a difficult game at that !!

You get many places such as Gecko Sports that keep their head down and get on with their core business, and doing it well.

Then you get the likes of Evobikes that specifically target the on-line market.  And doing it VERY well !  And I have stopped there to pick up goods, to have them volunteer to fit it, and pointing out issues, fixing these, and then refusing payment for the labour.

They send out regular emails of whats in stock, often with "small" specials .... their goods are already WELL priced.  With these emails they offer a small incentive to buy, without letting you feel like their standard prices are a ripp-off.....

On the other extreme you get those who try both a physical store and an on-line store.  Let's just say constant specials CAN be counter-productive !  When I now see an item on special I do a quick on-line search, and then decide where to buy....

Hi Chris

Thanks for the comment, some really great valid points!

Glad you visited the Paarl store, it really is an awesome store with a great team (sorry for my bias  ^_^

We will be launching our Pretoria store soon, which will be able to offer a much wider range - we will still however be focusing on premium cycling brands.

A great example from Evobikes - Looking after your customers on a personal level is so important. Good stuff

Our most important focus  is figuring out how we can take customer service / experience to the next level. In addition to getting the basics 120% - we have some really cool ideas in the pipeline where we combine the various offerings of the ASG Eco system to spoil our customers. You will want to sign up to our newsletter though as they are for subscribers only.

As soon as we have the online store fully loaded we will start looking at which product RRP's are not competitive in the SA market, and make adjustments.

I also agree that if everything is always on "special" it isn't really on special.  :whistling:

We really want to reward our most loyal customers, so the best deals will always be for subscribers, ASG club members and through our affiliated dealers.

Thanks for taking the time to give input Chris, next time you are around in Paarl come for a morning ride with the club! Coffee + brekkie is on me!

Before you start uploading every product in your catalogue, revise your pricing!

At your current prices you will be wasting significant funds on a website that's going to lay dormant forever ;)

I signed up. I have 50 points now....

I think you should find a niche target early on. Suggest Gravel grinding and road disc.
