What to arm yourself with

I just started training again after 20 years off the bike . I bought a MTB and will soon be going off road to get the real benefit and enjoyment of off road riding . My concern after reading some of the threads about riders being attacked and having their bikes and possessions stolen is what is ones best weapon (?not a fire arm ) to have with you and were would you hide it . Im sure its been discussed before but im not able to go through all the threads . 

 

I've contemplated the same question particularity since I enjoy riding alone at times and would also like to go off road on my own... So I've done some searches on the net on "best self defense weapon excluding a gun"...etc. Yet  I've come to a rather sad conclusion that we're probably at the point where you can carry Extra hot peri-peri spray, machetes, nun-chucks etc. but if you really want the best chance it will probably mean carrying a fire arm...

I'm armed with fookall each and every ride and ride mostly alone including table mountain / blockhouse etc. Works perfectly for me.

The only way that you are going to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Good luck to you if you try and dissarm or protect yourself with a batton or pepper spray in a gun fight.
