One of the first nations to publish their team list was Belgium

Plenty generals in that team..and any of of them could challenge for the win.

RSA (elite males) ranked 23rd as at 15 August so they can send 3

RSA (elite females) ranked 11th as at 15 August so they can send 6

For the male riders it should not be a problem

Female wise beside Ashleigh who is based in Europe who else will go noting that it is self funded? Giving a rider two weeks notice is not really sufficient to arrange visas etc....oh and R20k I would say at least for the trip

Yeah, not sure. The self-funding will be a sticking point for a fair few ladies. Was just pointing out theoretically how many we could field.

Meanwhile, in the women's peloton

Australia’s top ranked female rider, Chloe Hosking, said she plans to appeal the decision by Cycling Australia not to select her as a part of the team for the UCI Road World Championships in Bergen later this month.

In a controversial decision, Australian team selectors didn’t just omit Hosking, who is ranked eighth in the world, but also left two places on the team unfilled. This means despite Australia having earned the right to send seven riders to the Worlds road race, as the third-ranked nation in the world, the plan is only to send five.
