Cannondale Lefty Pros/Cons

What sort of lefty is it? The one with the boot? It cost me R1200 to service a 2010 lefty though agents. Serviced the fork and replced the boot - you will battle to find bearingsfor the older models. About 3 months ago. I was also informed that Cdale will not be supporting any of the older forks anymore - I think they said anything older than 2014. No more parts for those leftys.

If the lockout doesn't work and the shock is leaking oil, it sounds like the bike has been neglected. I would say R20k is too much. Is it a carbon frame 29er?

Info I got from Omnico when I phoned them to ask about parts. Also confirmed by Mendon Cycle Smith in the US.

That's ridiculous, 4yr pricey fork now redundant/binned. What proprietary parts are now not available/needed to service one of these now obsolete Lefty forks?

If it's leaking oil your damper's probably shot. Stay away.

Generally they're a bit of a pig to work on but if you look after them they'll serve you well. Let the bearings or the damper wear out and your wallet will take a beating.

You can always get parts from Craig at www.mendoncyclesmith.com

The hydraulics are in the cartridge which is relatively easy to remove and service. But to service the needles and races need special skill and tools, but generally it will last unless it runs dry,

If you do the regular servicing as in the owners manual it should last, unlike say the Reverb seat post,.
