It's going to be interesting watching the Froome-Thomas tactics. I don't think Froome will attack Thomas directly but he also won't wait if Thomas gets dropped.

The team strategy meeting this morning must have been fun - tons of what if what if what if...

The last two stages where Froome and GT attacked succesfully had the one attacking and then other following the wheel of the contenders, with each one having a chance to attack first, yet both times the rivals were more concerned with Froome and as a result GT walked away with the win and time gains.

They would be stupid to let Froome go today, so they will follow him if they can. And the same is true if GT goes, they can't let him get more time today. Thus Sky is sitting in an awesome win-win situation if they can both sit among the GC contenders on the final climb.

However an attack from the start line by two or maybe four of the GC favourites can throw the cat among the pigeons... we can hope...

Yep. Froome is much more closely marked than GT. I think that is far more likely for GT being ahead of Froome than any innate ability. Now no one is sure who is more likely to win so both need to be marked. TD has his work cut out for him. How would you like to chase down successive attacks launched by Froome and GT? How many matches would you burn before you popped?

I'm hoping but I reckon it will be damp squib stuff.

What isn't clear is if there will be a neutral zone or not. It sounds like there won't be - which is good!

If there is a neutral zone then it'll be Sky on the front controlling until the last climb.

No neutral zone means racing from the gun - although Bernal won't be far behind and Poels/Kwiat won't be far behind Bernal. My opinion is that Sky run too conservative a strategy to allow Thomas and Froome to be isolated so early on.

I just saw on twitter that Gen has sent her kids away on a "Hockey Tour" just so that she can keep the hub updated for todays stage! Great thinking Gen!!!

I heard it’s being modelled on Benoni world champs

I.e flat out guttering from the start with no neutral zone
