W/kg ranges corresponding to PPA road seeding

this got me thinking...

anyone out there with some IT capabilities?  With so much power data available and so much tools for crunching the "big data" numbers these days, it would be a world first and a extremely informative to start a power data upload page for a massive event like the 94.7 where everybody with power meters can upload their data for analysis.  If marketed correctly one could literally have 100's of data sets for the exact same route on the same day which should give great insight as to what to train for to achieve your goals.

Would be great to see the differences between time, NP, critical power, seeding group, etc. and even to quantify the differences within one group to see what how guys that pull compare to the wheelsuckers.

Maybe someone with the IT know-how can setup a website where we all can upload our PM data with your weight after the race?

edit:  not to mention drawing correlations between 94.7 and CTCT times etc.

There are way too many "pros" that would never share their power data

Something like this would not be too difficult to do, but what would the incentive be?

This type of online data model carries fixed overhead, hosting/DB license etc and then there is the lost opportunity costs for the Devs.

It will not carry any sort of value without a large data set. TrainingPeaks/GarminConnect and Strava would charge a massive fee to access their data (that and their subscriber info are their biggest assets), thats if they would even allow it in the first place. So you would need athletes to upload separately, this means one would need to get the word out there and actively drive the extra uploads.... marketing budget.

So I believe a "formal thing" probably won't be viable.

Something that could work if its just for "interest sake", is a simple "TheBikeHub Power" Google Docs spreadsheet where we can input some basic race numbers for the two races. I am sure this info, even though its a smaller data set would be good info for people such Science2Sport and the likes, so it could be worth their while to setup and maintain the spreadsheet and talk to the results.

yep dont think many top end riders using powers meters will share their data, would be cool to see but highly unlikely.

Its not the top end riders using power meters that would not share their data...

Nice idea. Noble idea even. But the OP tried to get simpler data from people and how effective was that?

He forgot to put a [serious] tag in the original post. How were we suppose to know?

Data will be fairly irrelevant, look at Strickers recent race..... data will only be relevant for that particular race, and will be affected by weather conditions, the type of racing that took place i.e lots of surges and attacks or controlled race.

Would be interesting to see but not sure how much relevance it would have with regard to training to achieve a goal.

I always have a chuckle / face palm when weekend warriors / "local pro's" keeps everything private yet the big dogs are now sharing their World Tour events on Strava
