Spez or Sidi. The only thing I dislike about the Sidi's is that the white usually turns yellowish after a while.

If you can overlook the ASG issues being experienced, they have been running good deals on Sidi and a brand called Crono.

 

I have had good experiences with Specialized.

 

That said, there's so many brands to choose from, and at the upper end of models, they are generally equally good.

 

Go with the one that fits best.

Very subjective.

 

I started off on cheap Shimano's. Then I got a very good deal on Sidi's on the Bike Hub Classifieds, and used them for a while. Never got comfortable in them at all. My one foot developed pain after a few kms, so I gave the Sidis to my son, who loves them, while I am back to my cheap Shimano's, and could not be happier.

 

To me most important is the long distance comfort, and the stiffer Sidi's were a killer to my feet. So be carefull here. Unfortunately, you can't return the shoes after a long ride if they don't work out for you.
