ReemsZA Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Big shout out to Hot Spot Cycles for the excellent customer service over the weekend, late Saturday. 15k's into a ride and the header bolt securing the rear shock went AWOL (prob wasnt tightened at last service) ...scambled back to the car park, and called EVERYONE (94.7 the next day was on ) No one had a part or could help latish Sat afternoon. Phoned Hot Spot and they were about to close but said bring the bike, we will wait. Arrived and the original idea wasnt going to work, so the crew there decided with Jacques consent to allow the techies to remove one from the same model new bike, and get me going while they ordered a new one and replaced it on Monday. Saved my weekend and on top of that while the bike was on the stand, did a re-alignment of the rear hanger, set all the shifters and gave it a good look over. Went back for a late ride to finish what we left off at Rosemary Hill, and the bike was like a new beast. Really sweet shifting. 94.7 the next day was a blast, but would have missed it if it wasnt for these guys. We all have loads of options in servicing, shops etc...choices....this secured them a customer - these guys know how to make a difference here. Thanks again. Steve
karlito Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Niel has saved my ass on several occasions, this is what a LBS is supposed to be.
lechatnoir Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Can we sticky this as an example of a 'first post'? Nice going Hot Spot and OP for telling your story
Job Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I bought two of my 5 bikes from them. The other 3 bikes had to be returned to the sellers for minor tweaks but not the Hot Spot bikes...Excellent service always.
Spinnekop Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Best bike shop in Pretoria.Jacques, Johnny, Neil, Adolf. They know their stuff and ALWAYS go the extra mile.
Letum911 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I have always had brilliant service from them!!! Probably one of my biggest losses I incurred, losing them as a LBS, when I moved. @OP, nice to see a positive post as a first post!!!!

AdriaanG69 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 It is very unfortunate that I have to disagree. I am from Roodepoort, and always chose to do business with Hot Spot, even if they are 80km up north.I don’t think I will go back to this store. Honestly, from the day I bought my Momsen Vipa One, up to this very minute I really do not feel like a valued customer of HS, but rather like a liability to this store. The bike was on special, and this seems to constitute the fact that I have to be dealt with as a underpaying non-profitable client. I have bought an entry level Silverback from HS five years ago, and back then the guys delivered the bike to me without me even going to Pta or seeing the bike physically, they even contacted me to see how this bike is performing. I think this level of customer service created an expectation that they value their customers, no matter what the sale was, and take pride in the customer experience. This time I spent 7 times more money on a bicycle at HS, and they weren’t even prepared to put in two tubeless valves (R30 each) and a bottle tyre sealant (R200) to sweeten the deal, (this for two already tubeless ready wheels). I wanted them to do the first service on the Momsen I bought from them, and then asked them to just drop off the bike halfway between me and them when they are done, but got a straight forward NO from the store manager.Sure, times change, and things are tighter in the economy, but I can’t understand how they treat me like a chancer and just shoot down any request I have without even considering asking me if I will be willing to share the cost of transporting the bike back to me after I bring it in for a service, or even asking me to pay for delivery (which I am more than willing to do), or in the other case simply telling me how easy it will be to convert to tubeless on these tubeless ready wheels. Anyway, I am now not expecting anything more from this store, and I will rather pay cash for my first service at a store on the West Rand where I feel like a valued customer. I have been speaking highly of HS, and have referred all my biking buddies to the shop, from guys looking for a set of gloves to guys walking away with high spec bikes, but that will not happen anymore.

Take the bike to the closest reputable store to you for a service. Oh, And Hotspot is definitely one of the better shops in and around Pretoria.
Neil Neil Neil Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Hey Pretoria people. Is this store still kicking ass? I'm away on business so I can't work on my special lady friends bike. She's very noob and I want her to take it to an LBS that's legitimate and not going to try spin her a story just to get cash from her. Thanks in advance.
