$ for me. Not sure how I got there... Hang on for dear life as long as possible!

I will never understand why hubbers who ride in A bunch with seeding indexes below 10 are surprised by getting good seedings in big events.  :whistling:

1b, same as last year .. hopefully can hang on this time up hells , i'm still broken from #CDC

You will be fine on the day.

Just go for shortish, low intensity but high cadence rides, for the next few days.

This gives your legs time to recover and get rid of the lactic acid built up.

Saturday morning go out for a coffee ride, but do a few short (no more than 30 seconds) sprints to wake your legs up for Sunday.

Don't kill yourself going up Hels (lots of time to catch up again on the other side) and you will see that you are going to ride your best SCT yet.

Best of luck, and enjoy it.

less groups this year.  no 2L/M and 3L/M.  guess the entries are less or groups (slightly) bigger.

hope it's the latter one.

Most likely entries are down, recall someone somewhere said entries are up to 30% down for a lot of cycling events this year, even for CTCT entries are down

People don't have enough cash to burn anymore. Spoke to a couple of guys that said they can do a 100 km road ride on their own on open roads, so why should they pay they entry fees. And most of the races is 90% the same road.

I guess if you see a race as just another social ride where you pay extra and get waterpoints that would be valid. Personally I don't see the 2 as comparable.

The same roads is an interesting one, you hear that a lot but to ride on different roads you need to travel to venues a bit further away from D'ville but it appears roadies hate that even more

This is my viewpoint too.

The last race I did (2017 CTCT non event excluded) was the 99'er.  And guess what, it will be the next race I enter for / do. Reason for this is that it includes sections of road we never raced on before, like the newly opened Slent road, and the section past Phillidelphia to the N7, and then the section of the N7.

This makes it worth my while to enter for. And at R340 early bird, R390 normal entry (excluding a possible R35 CSA fee) it is not exactly cheap, so I carefully pick the races I enter.

Gone are the days of two to three races in one month. Gets too expensive.

I think that is where the guys organising MTB races have some advantage, think (with a bit of negotiation with a few farmers / landowners) it is possible to plan a route that cannot be ridden normally, that and the added benefit of them providing medical support and waterpoints

I still find it bezare that people say r300 is expensive for entry... Cancel your dstv and you can do 3 events per month.

Also "i can ride road anytime ", sure, but I cannot find 10 other people to go race against.. Let alone a 1000.

If you really poor, then drop me pm and ill pay your ticket, but you better not arrive with your brand new BMW and r70k bike
