So bummed I had to make the decision to sub my entry On too much medication for flu and lung issues, so too high risk. Enjoy it on my behalf, I will be sulking in front of RedBull TV (Albstadt)

Brilliant! Perfect weather and finally I managed to do a sub 8 hours 160 miler. I previously did this in 2016 and under estimated it completely.

Had a nasty OTB shortly after 100km cause by a deep section of loose gravel in the middle of the road after a cattle grid. On it's own that would have been fine, but I really feel bad for the guys that piled up on me. Sorry for that and I hope you all are doing OK. I really wish that did not happen, so please accept my sincerest apologies. Thanks for the rest of the group that stopped to assist. You guys are awesome.

Luckily I could ride away and finish with a few nasty scars, wrecked ego and buckled rear wheel rubbing the frame. Can't wait for next year

You went past me just after the second last waterpoint after I passed you as you were klapping your rear wheel back into place. Sorry to hear about your crash.

I chased you down the tar section after that and was trying to pull you back on the hills there when my non drive side crank came off. One of the weirder sensations I've had on a bike.

Had to stop 6 times to put it back on in the last 40 otherwise I might have got a sub 8 too.

My longest ride yet. 10 months and a week since I had surgery for my bust femoral neck and a similar length of time before my 50th birthday. Pleased with myself.

Lovely day for a long ride. Couldn't help thinking that it would have been carnage if there was heat or strong wind.

Who's in for Around the Pot?

I had a crank bail on me like that on the Koringberg ride once, could go about 8k then had to stop and find a rock with which to bash it on again. Almost did that yesterday with the wheel but in the end kicking it did the trick.

Oh snap - I was the 3rd wheel over you, badly bruised legs, 2 non repairable rims and a nasty roasty knee but it's all good, ribs luckily not broken but very eina today, these things happen. Glad you are okay!

Wow. Sounds like a nasty pileup.

Did you finish with the bust bike and the bruises?

I had the feeling the turnout for the 50 was bad. 2 years ago there were 4 shuttle buses if i remember correctly, this year there were only 3 and only half the people pitched up for the shuttles. they made one full half the bikes on the other and the third never even left Malmesbury.

For my race, never again at this weight class. This was the worst ride of my life, was okay until the 2nd water point and then there was nothing left in the tank. Go check out the pics on FB, i'm the fat guy pushing his bike...
