Okay now that you've won the saddle bag pissing contest, PLEASE straighten your saddle!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone would notice it????

As I finished my ride this morning and was cycling home, I sat up with hands off the bar ( and weight on the back of the saddle) when I rode over a newly installed speed hump and felt my saddle move.

It has been fixed.

Hi Hubbers,

I've been carrying my spares/tools in my shirt pockets when riding without my hydration pack. I'm not too fond of saddle bags, and getting a bit tired of the weight of the tube pulling the back of my shirt down. I was also thinking of taping (insulation tape) my spare tube to the frame, but not too keen on the idea purely because I regularly swap between two bikes (similar tire size/width) and not to keen on dealing with the stickiness when you have to use the tube.

I came across these two products (rubbery/stretchy plastic strap with buckle) that seems really useful (for more than just strapping my tube to the bike frame):

http://www.voilestraps.com/

https://int.oneupcomponents.com/collections/gear/products/edc-gear-strap.

Comparing this to a Velcro strap I think you should be able to get it really tight without damaging the paint on the clean frame, not to mention that mud/dirt can just be wiped off.

Any idea where I can find something like this in SA? The price on the EDC gear strap is a bit rough but at R100 per strap (without shipping) I think it's still worthwhile.

So to sum up.

camelbak= cool

Pockets = uncomfortable

Saddlebag = uncool

One tube per bike = expensive/sticky

Minimalist strap = expensive/untested

Maybe you should rather try a simple sport, like lawn bowls or tiddlywinks

If you don't drink a lot, you can use the second bottle cage for a neat toolbox to store the tube.

Some of the new bikes don't have a place for second bottle cage unfortunately.

Inside that box is a lightweight tube, a small multi tool, 2 tyre levers and a deconstructed puncture kit + extra tube of glue.

BUT, is it cool to use a bag for the bowls .... or straps .... might be a bit bulky for pockets ....

These are pretty nifty:
