You are never too pro to wave

Personally I tend to wave more if there are less people out there.

ie. In the Cradle, especially that last month before 947, I don't wave.

When on a deserted road on new years morning when there shouldn't be a soul out on the road I will wave to everything, even runners and triathletes :o

Have you tried the royal wave (uppie, pretend smile, half wave, stop pretend smile, back to position before uppie)?

You may also try the Mexican wave! Sure this will get some attention.

Also remember, you Vaalies are sterk boere and can easily manage one hand on the bar. We Capies are mostly winos, and have to focus, particularly so in this "sedoos" that tried and tested your riding abilities.

Ride in peace ...

Ag shame another “my feelings are hurt” thread.

Seeing that you are the type of guy who says crap like “R60k Spez Roadie” you probably didn’t deserve to be waved at in the first place.

If you want people to wave at you in the Cape, go to Clifton 3rd and get your wang out.

Year made.... Thanks Patch... LOL...

PS OP, I am 31, I am as fit as a fiddle, I am not an elderly gentleman(this is if it's me you saw) And I only nod cz I ride deep sections and if I take my hands off the bars, with the wind in CT as u saw, I'm bound to fall... LOL...

PS, Most okes in CT on their bikes are actually pretty cool, Haven't met too many boxes...

Zone 4 Helmet nod

Zone 5 Brief glance, just observation while running out of oxygen

Zone 6+ Stay in control of bicycle and avoid obstacles while in hypoxic state

Hi.  My name is Dubber and I'm a waver...

That said, if I waved to every cyclist on my ride out to Chappies yesterday, I think I would now hold the record for the longest one handed bike ride!  It was awesome to see so many out and about.

But I did make eye contact and give a shout out to those who weren't in 'Strava Zone'.  Was a great day to be on a bike in CPT.

I’m crying myself to sleep tonight

Rolled for 5 hrs and saw tens of cyclists

The ‘return-wave-courtesy’ rate was 27.585 percent

What’s the world coming to ????

As a rule I don't wave to everybody when I'm on my bike, as I don't wave at every car when I'm driving or every other pedestrian when I'm out for a walk. Except maybe when I meet you on a deserted piece of singletrack, at which stage I'll greet you politely. I feel everybody is entitled to personal space, even in the outdoors. But I'll always wave back if you've gone to the trouble to greet me.

What irks me more though is when certain cyclists have no common decency - there is a certain type. Often when out riding with the missus and things take a bit longer than usual, I'll make an obvious effort to allow faster riders or KOM hunters to pass which, let's face it, can be a ding in the ego. In a case like this where someone makes an effort to let you pass, just acknowledge it maybe with a quick "thanks", a nod or lifting a hand. It tells the other person you appreciate the gesture. No need to be a box pretending you own the trail just because you're going faster at that point.

Little rant off, flamesuit on...
