Garmin trade in program

So I have been hearing rumours and murmurs of this sort of thing. Apparently you take in your old device (in my case 520 edge) some wizards do number crunching and you pay in some and get need device (in my case 820)

Any further details will be much appreciated.

It has always been the case, as long as the unit it not discontinued(they have a list)

I have changed a few of my units over the year, either due to faulty batteries, damaged casing, or broken clips, you take it to Navworld and they will upgrade you to another unit at a hugely reduced price, there are some limitations, but you can reduce your upgrade cost

Many things have changed in December. Garmin have split from Navworld in terms of this and also warranties due to them doing this sort of thing. It was never suppose to be a trade in program but rather replacing units that are broken and keeping you with the brand.

But due to them just replacing left and right, they took that away.

You can still go to Garmin in Rosebank. You will have to give in the broken unit. They will assess and if faulty, you will only get a refurbed new upgraded unit. No more new bundle units

Lets not place the blame on Navworld.

They replaced within the stipulations set out by Garmin. But without the necessary test facilities, I am sure items were replaced that may not have been faulty just because a customer claimed to have an issue.

The problems lies with consumers trying to get cheap upgrades and not being honest

I smaak my 520. But a 1030 will go down well too! I think the pay-in will be quite high, so not worth the bother.

So the famous Garmin warranty isnt as good as it once was then.

Sure you can still pay in and get a refurbed upgrade but its not quite like new units people were getting.

I think a few of Garmin's distributors were pulling the piss, it was a matter of time before they looked at the numbers and started asking questions.
