Just having a look at the profile for the 60km, that is over 1800m climbing, so does that mean it is one of those Mountain hiking races?

Its all ride able as long as riders are respectful to pullover and let the mounted riders past when they can no longer pedal. There are a few nasty steep and loose single track sections that require patience and perseverance. Its an awesome route and great pity that it clashes with transBaviaans Repeat.

So should I be ready to hear / ask politely ... "Stay to the left"

This weekend has a few races actually, between Backsberg and Staalwater also happening.

I don't know hey, depends on your climbing ability. I assume you doing the "70km"? If you're seeded in A batch but a slow climber then probably best to start near the back.

IF you're a fast climber then start near the front. It gets nasty quickly.

There are quite a few B seeded riders who should be in A but the SAseeding.org system is always consistent wrt to the events they use to work out rider seeding.

There is plenty of dual lane jeeptrack and wide open tracks to pass. Its once you past half way when its gets tight.

Also with rain forecast for today and tomorrow, its going to pretty slippery. This will likely keep those not so technically adept away or at other events.

Nope, I am not on the racing side, more in the B or C group.  For me I am more out there to enjoy the ride.  And if need be and I am sitting behind someone going up a single track slowly I will just use the time to recover a bit, or politely ask them if I can pass when it is convenient.

What a wonderful event, was a shame that the field looked a bit thin but with all the other events over this weekend that is to be expected, this did help with nearly no bottlenecks at the back. Regarding the event it was tough but had technical descent, gradual climbs and more climbs. Very good route marking, waterpoints were also spot on and being in C group when I got there, there were still more than enough stock left. In spesific the water bottel filling worked very well. And then it was all wrapped up in a more practical finishers "Medal". All in all I hope other organisers of events learn from what worked well here (which include board to confirm you are actually on the correct route).

Regarding the final distance, I might have missed it as there were some contridictions. The boards were for 70km, the route profile was labelled 60km and the final distance was 65/66. Also not sure why they added that last loop just before the end or was that just to add 2 km to the route?

Lastly just want to thank Nissan and King Price for their support, it is much appreciated.

Excellent event. Big climbs, lovely descents, more big climbs, more lovely descents, more big climbs and more lovely descents.

Trailseekers are always tough, and provided I'm fit enough to take my suffering properly i always enjoy them.

Wild boar trails are very worth the drive to wellington also and tygerberg mtb members can ride there as part of membership.

Elgin tiletori next weekend, piketberg soon after that, then west coast xpress.... life is good... apart from the massive cramp that had me undergoing religious conversion and begging for mercy on my living room floor while loved ones roll their eyes and wonder why i do it.
