Yes, they do! Able to runner much lower pressures and you get better grip. 30mm and more works especially well with the new Maxxis WT tyres - they are made specifically for wide rims.

It's an upgrade that is well worth the money.

Looking for advice from the chargers out there if wider hoops make such a big difference?

I'm currently looking to go to about 30mm inner width either rapide or something similar.

Bring on kingdom enduro!

What do you have at the moment? If its 25mm wide, just stay as is.  A decent set of grippy tyres will make far more sense than going semi fat IMO. (I'm on 29mm rims with 2.6 tyres on one of my bikes and I'm not convinced yet)

30 ain't wide no more! I was looking at some spanks or RaceFace Arc's at 35 and believe they are going 40 / 45 now as well.

To be honest, I have had 30's recently on a bike I sold, have had 25's for the last 3 years on my 29'r and I couldn't really see much difference. I run my Spanks which are 25's at 18psi and never had an issue, not found wanting for grip, tyre roll, burping and all the things you hear are better. I think going from like, 22's to 30's you'd notice a big difference. Wider rims do give you alot of the goodness without a doubt but I think build, stiffness and tyres are equally as important and can effect as well.

I am just about to replace with Flow 30's this week (wanted spanks but couldn't get them quickly enough) and I'm sure I'll be just as happy.

The Nukeproof Neutron look like a good option at R535 a rim

Was looking at them. The wheel set from CRC looks pretty good specs and a darn good price as well.

seriously 18Psi? That's like 1.2 bar. What do you weigh? I run my tyres at 2.2 back and 1.9 front. That's 32psi back and 27psi front. 30mm internal with DHR DHF combo.

That's pretty firm. I weigh 92kg and run 1.6bar front 1.8bar rear. 27mm internal, 2.35 Ground Controls.

82kgs... of pure honed 6 pack (of beer). That's for most of the trails around here (tokai etc). If I'm going to hit some where nasty and rocky I'll up the pressure for sure but most of the time it's 18 - 20psi both ends.

difference between 345's and 395's ?

Also what do their prices look like ?

345 = 34.5 mm outer diameter (inner roughly 31)

395 = 39.5 mm outer diameter (inner roughly - 36...)

It's a pattern. The 295 are, you guessed it, 29.5mm outer

Pricing will vary.. have a google or call someone who deals with International Trade locally.

Awesome rims

Also think you're running it a bit firm! I have been between 100 and 110kg for the last year running Ardent/DHR2 combo on 30mm rims at 1.7 and 1.5 bar...

1.2 is very soft though!
