Off the top of my head to carry with you on the bike, or in the hydration pack - coz in Enduro a hydration pack is cool haha:

Tyre levers

Co2 catridges

Co2 adapter

Hand pump

Tyre boot

Spare Tube

Extra chain links

Good multi-tool with chain breaker

Spare mech hanger

Small (30ml) bottle of chain lube

Some lekker trail mix and snacks - from what I've heard the days can get long!

Lots of water

On you:

Knee pads are a must, elbow pads as well even better, some back protection (maybe in your back) is 1st prize.

A GOOD helmet, preferably a full face one or one with a removable chin strap. At minimum your helmet should provide good coverage on the sides and back of your head.

It goes without saying lycra at these events are a no no! Baggies and loose shirt ;)

Make sure the shoes you wear are comfortable to walk in - your standard XC shoes will work for the riding part, but often in Enduro there are places where you will have to hike a bike, so a shoe with a more bendable sole that you can walk in is preferable.

Your bike:

Depending on the race you want tyres with good sidewall protection, at most places in SA you will get away with non DH tyres, but many people don't mind the extra weight and opt for a DH sidewall.

Yeah... I think that's about it. I haven't actually done an enduro race, but I love trail riding and THINK the riding I do = enduro. That's what I would take with me on most rides. Also hoping to do a few events this year.

EDIT: I think the above is an "ideal" situation, but by no means do you need a full face helmet, special shoes, etc etc - it will just make your day more enjoyable and above all give you that extra protection when race day ballas kicks in and sanity takes a back seat.

Think Grease Monkey covered most of what you would need to take with you.

The list is obviously race dependent. If you're doing an enduro where you're never to far out in the sticks and an emergency trip to the car is feasible, then you can carry a bit lighter and stick to the basics.

It goes without saying, that you need to at least know how to use the spares you're carrying. Know how to repair a slashed tyre (or stuff a tube in), replace a mech hanger or snapped gear cable, etc.

Yoh... Dudes carry a lot of stuff!

Where is the Enduro?

For me it's pretty race dependent. Snacks and water. A multitool, chain link, a bomb and adapter, a pump and a tube. That's what I take to Ezelenduro. And a tin of Pilchards because Pilchards..

I do recommend padding and a good helmet.

But wear whatever clother you feel comfortable riding in. People take #enduro riding way too seriously. If you wanted to really be Enduro you would wear cut off jeans, an open flannel top with a vest underneath (preferably with a picture of Marilyn Jackson on)...

The less hardcore Enduro's can be ridden on any bike, in any clothes and the faster you liaise the less snacks you have to take because you can be done in 2 to 3 hours....

The Uitkyk enduro... It's fun and not terribly taxing.

I would take water and some snacks, a multi tool and not much else.... It's a relatively tame place to have fun

A bike, a helmet, a smile and a sense of self preservation...

You can always.go faster next time - just have fun - people are friendly - ask and you will be helped with everything from line and technique advise (some worth gold, others what you pay for it) to spares and repair assistance.

The less stuff you take the more fun you will have. Take a bomb, multitool and food. Wear the kit you are use to wearing. Make sure your bike is fine beforehand. Obviosly run tubeless.

Use sunblock. Pay your medical aid. Jokes
