Matuka Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Hi guys, not sure if this is the right forum but I have an old Carerra Gryphon road bike and the shimano shifters have given up the ghost. They are really old and are pretty much falling apart. I have had a look for second hand shifters but they are like hens teeth. It seems a waste to just not have a usable bike just because of the shifters. Anyone have any ideas what I could do? Is there anywhere to order shifters or should I just be content to have a single speed

Matuka Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 Thanks for the replies all! Its not actually a vintage bike just an oldish carerra. The Shifters are the bog standard Shimano Soras. The bike is still in fine shape thats why I just want to try sort out the shifters. I have actually taken them apart and got them working again but they failed me on the kyalami section of the 947. I think they are now done for though. I will post pics in the morning if I can figure that out!
droo Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 A wanted ad in the classifieds will sort you out I'd reckon. 8sp STIs are not all that common anymore, but I'm pretty sure there are a few sets lying around in parts boxes in garages. Otherwise chat to the guys at Whippet in Brixton.
