Please tell me that after 15,000km this is not what I think it is...

The bike has been a bit noisy when pedaling, fitted new pedals and serviced the BB, seem to solve it but one for a day and then the noise returned...

I also tried to "polish" it out, does not feel too rough but I am concerned that this could be the end. It's an Aluminium Silverback Sola 1 from 2014.

Really hope it is not a crack as I though that my curse was finally over.

Doesnt look like a crack to me - more like a scratch. You say it's just been at the LBS ?

Might have to go past there on the way home and let them have a look.

if I look at the rest of the surface scratches around the area in question I think its just a surface scratch. A crack will have a far more distinct line - as you had before...

btw what happened to the Giant you had? The Revel?

Thanks guys, yes I did convert it long ago, could well be a FD scar. Feeling a lot better now, but still puzzled by what is causing the creaking when I pedal. Thus far I have completely stripped and cleaned the seatpost, BB and replaced the pedals too.

Chainring bolts... can be real ba$tard$ when finding creaks. Had some creaks due to them before. As well as washing out the seat tube the seatpost slides into...

Rear quick release creaks... needs greasing.

check your saddle, creaking could be coming from there.

It's a direct mount chainring and I did check that when I had it off to do the BB. When I wiggle the handlebar I don't hear creaks so I don't think it is the headset... The mystery continues.
