If I ride from home I always make sure the kettle is full before I go. Do this without fail!! Ridiculous I know....but I need coffee the moment I'm finished.

On the odd occasion I've forgotten it actually annoys me while I ride...

All made in the olden days by bored moms and grannies to give themselves and us crap to worry about.

In saying that above...

That guy Murphy is a real d-o-o-s with his laws

Applicable to cyclists, Murphy's constant : Matter will be damaged in direct proportion to it's value.

More a creature of habit/ritual than superstitions as with Triathlons you need some kind of mental checklist which is my Habit. I pack everything the afternoon before a race-so I have time to go through the List.  I only race with a certain pair of goggles, shorts, socks, top, cycling shoes and sunglasses. I have a favorite pair of running shoes and a visor that is so faded and old but it works. None of this what goes on first and which side but there is a process which I guess serves the same purpose

Always clipping out before coming to halt.

Didn't do it once and a fractured rib was the result.

So clearly not irrational.

Thumb pressure testing tires before getting on the bike, always. Even if someone else does it, if I can't, I don't get on the bike.
