Chris_ Posted September 23, 2020 Share Have done a few upgrades recently one of which is the Curve flared bar,love it ....Just fitted some 27.5 HED Wheels with 47c tyres and as an added bonus shed over 1/2 kg of rotational weight . Very cool looking bike though.Its a Niner,witchcraft is very likely .Niner do build there bikes to mountain bike standards , whatever that may be . So they are solidly built and plenty robust . The steel soaks up a lot of the chatter so doesn’t really need suspension in my opinion. As long as you don’t mind the weight ,which I don’t . That’s my best guess anyway ???? Big granny with an rd extender, if necessary and just accept the jumps in the cassette. It's not as if you're racing and looking for an optimal gear? Hi man, 9 speed just feels like it will be too little especially if I am doing a big ass climb don't you think? And if there's some weight to the bicycle? Fat Boab Posted September 23, 2020 Share To give you an idea I run 10 sp sti and 9 sp mtb rd as 2x10 on 50/34 and 11/36. As is...no problem. I want to drop to 11/40 and if the Rd gives me grief I'll use a Rapide Rd extender (<R200) to work around. Run the bike for bike-packing, touring and gravel grinding. I just accept that I spin a little more or grind a little more due to jumps in gearing. Ahh I see. Gotta love Shimano And yeah, this is definitely not a build that I want for crazy high speeds.
