THIS IS NOT THE 'DONT BUY ' PETROL FOR 1 DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET PETROL BACK DOWN TO R5.00 PER LITRE ....HOPEGULLY.

If you are tired of the petrol prices going up THEN please take time to read this.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the dont buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last APRIL or MAY.

I'ts worth your consideration.Join the resistance !!!

We are going to hit the R10.00 a litre soon and might even go higher.

We need to take some intelligent , united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt " ourselves by refusing to buy petrol.

It was more of an inconveneince to us than it was a problem to them.

BUT , whoever thought of this idea , has come up with a plan that can  REALLY work. Please read on and join with us!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of petrol is CHEAP at R6.50 , we need to take aggressive action to teach them that the BUYERS control the marketplace

.. not the sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day , we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their petrol! And , we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

                                            HOW

Since we all rely on our cars , we cant just stop buying petrol, but we can have an impact on petrol prices if we all act together to force a petrol price war.

                                     HERE IS THE IDEA

For the rest of the year ,  DONT purchase ANY petrol from CALTEX, the biggest price up driver company.

If they are not selling petrol , they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduced their prices , the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact , we need to reach literally millions of CALTEX petrol buyers. Its really simple to do! NOW , dont wimp out on me at this point ...keep reading and i'llexplain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 20people. If each of us send it to at least ten more [ 20 x 10= 200 ]... And those 200 send it to at least ten more ....and so on , by the time the message reaches the 6 th group of people , we will have reached over TWO MILLION consumers.

If those get excited and pass this on to 10 friends each , then 20 million people will have been contacted!

AGAIN , ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO SEND THIS TO 10 PEOPLE. THATS ALL !

I"ll bet you didnt think you and I had that much potential , did you!

ACTING TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If it makes sense to you , please pass this message on .

THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW THE R5.50 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

I think it'll take more than not buying it for "i day"... reckon you'd have to make it a month or two... that would appear to be a fatal flaw in your plan Brain...

So you believe that this will help, why don't you go on a hunger strike rather. Oil price is a world wide problem. All you doing is clogging internet bandwidth, thus making surfing the hub slower. Oh, more bandwidth needed will lead to increase in bandwidth cost too. Just now you'll be asking for us to boycott our ISPs

Looks like the email was manufactured by Sasol to push up their sales. This will only work for unregulated items, petrol and diesel is regulated by the Gvt so Caletx would not be able to just lower their price to make sales.

Why caltex, all they do is buy oil at the market rate, like everyone else.  SO buying from someone else simply means that the demand for petrol stys the same, and caltex makes less profit, not the OPEC countries who are the suppliers.  Also in order to make an impact on caltex you would require a world wide boycott of caltex, who (if you are successful) will be bought out by another oil company.  So then the next compnay needs to be boycotted, to infinitum.  Still the demand stays the same, and the companies change, suppliers stilll making the same money.

I agree with TNT1 let baldrick come up with the cunning plan next time

How small is the price elasticity of petrol? EXACTLY!!

Petrol is a necessity good - there are very few alternative modes of transport in SA!!

WAKE up, rub your eyes and ask Sasol a nice bonus for your efforts!

Use your bike' date=' avoid the petrol price. you wont change consumer behavious sufficiently to hurt the oil companies, they have a captive market.

but commuting takes effort, whereas randomly boycotting petrol stations gives a sense of empowerment

A good few years back PnP ventured into the price cutting petrol market, but was forced by the goverment to stop. Even today with everyone else still getting their cut e.g Gvt, producers, suppliers, taxman etc PnP maintain they can still sell petrol cheaper through inititiaves such as Self Help pumps but the gov and unions refuse to accept this.

Yah, I remember that Scotty. All the gas stations at the Hypermarkets cut their price by a few cents per litre, and then the government stepped in and stopped it.

.............but if I remember correctly, old man Raymond still kept the price lower than the set level by offering cut price bread and a few other basics, his argument was I will sell you a loaf of bread, Milk etc at R1.00 (or whatever) to make up your fuel discount - but then of course the government stopped that as well.!
