Last year I was having a lovely ride up breedts on my lonesome when suddenly there were all of these maniacs, some not on mountain bikes, moering down on me. Now I know why and that it wasn’t personal.

Respect to those who ride up and over breedts on a gravel bike, especially after all this rain.

So only the 95km route, gravel bikes can do? not the 105km?

No. I went over the top, to the old shebeen and back in a gravel bike.

Not ideal but do-able.

Would you do it again or rather stick to the 95 on a cyclo-cross?

I would definitely only do the 95 if I was riding a CX.

The far side is only just ridable;  on a CX bike it will be like doing an Enduro on a HT MTB. And coming back up, it is a technical climb done often at very slow speed with road surface rather than incline being the limiting factor.

ps:

I have entered for the 95  as I want to ride my Gravel bike.

Where did it say they won't let cyclocross bikes do the 105? I thought they just can't podium....

Indeed. From previous experience this is correct. The climb back up is just a bit dodgy on a CX (as mentioned before). You can always just ask Victor to confirm, but I’m pretty sure NSBB is correct - just no podium

Enjoy guys and girls. It is going to be hot and dusty.

Ps. I can sit on my stoep and check you guys start... unfortunately I am not riding. Nursing a heavily sprained and swollen ankle from a trail run
