26er Alu hardtail, what to do?

Ideas needed

I have a Carbon roadbike sitting on effectively 27mm tubeless tyres. So done with tinkering with that for now.

I am in the process of buying a Dual Susser, so that should sort me out for trails etc.

Now the bike up for discussion is a  2007 Merida Aluminium HArdtail, 3x9, weighs about 16kg. Currently running V-brakes, but frame has mounting points for discs. What do I do with it?

Options:

-Donate it

-Sell it

-Turn it into a type of Gravel bike with drop handlebars and disc brakes scavenged off the hub?

-Any other ideas are welcome?

I like the idea of doing drop handlebars.

Single speed simplifies allot.

I just gets interesting w.r.t. brakes, as going to road brake levers with hydraulic disc brakes is still very new and thus expensive.

Does one then go cable pull disc brake route?

Probably going to leave the front fork as is, it has a lockout which would give me the rigid feel when needed.

Avid BB7 if you're on a budget, Yokuzuna Motoko or Hope V-Twin if you're feeling flush.

My monster bike is built with BB7 brakes (Sram Red carbon brakes  / STi's).

Not the braking power of hydraulics, but 110% for the type of riding I do with the bike. - (gravel roads)

Keep it simple for now,

do a cheap ss conversion and ride it, if you like it then make some changes according to your taste. ie: rigid front end, disk upgrade etc

i fitted some old 29er wheels to my wifes 26er and put some 25c semi threaded tyres on. worked lekke as a go almost anywhere bike. but the tyres would run out of talent pretty quick on the dirt.

Post us a photo..... Just one question... How on earth did you get 29 wheels to fit a 26 frame?
