Training/riding on anti biotics

I had a little bit of a sore throat once, just when I started getting into cycling. In bed for a day, got ‘better’, started riding again and going to the gym and... still felt tired but now with pain in jaw. Oh yes. But I don’t do doctors for ‘silly’ things like a virus, so just rested, then feel like I’m being lazy, so go cycling again. Eh eh. Myocarditis is what I had. I was lucky. Very very lucky. So DON’T DO IT!!! Recover properly, then start slowly, keeping your heart rate down. It won’t affect your training that much. Being a heart case or dead definitely will.

My point is, if my doc says don't train, then I won't. If my doc gives me the all clear, who gives an internet boffin the right to say he's wrong?

Total rest

Start slow rides without looking at your measurement device about 3 days after course is complete.

Do this for a week.

And then slowly rebuild.

Take it easy, man.

An expert's opinion is much better than some random on the internet who has read some stuff somewhere. Or am I mistaken?

It is not some random person on the internet. V12 man here is a .... never mind

Honestly, who cares? This is the internet.

Please stay on topic.

Go get your post count up elsewhere, preferably without being a yapper

I have been having on and off flu-like symptomps almost every 2 to 3 week since December 2017. The last time I went to the Dr he gave me 5 antibiotics pills on a Tuesday and I asked if I could train on the weekend, he said in 3 days I should be ok and I can resume training. After drinking the 1st pill I felt 100% ok but I didnt train...on Saturday I took my 5th and last antibiotics pill just after the race...and it was all good. Check with your Dr he might allow you to train while you are on antibiotics.

So yo0u agree that some experts can also be "a random person on the internet"?

BTW do a search he has given his opinion many times regarding that and hence we have  repearted what he has said.

I agree completely with your statement. However, you stated you read stuff on the internet, that does not make an expert, does it?

What I merely tried to point out (or ask) is that if this person is a serious runner, and he's using antibiotics, then his doctor gave it to him, and surely his friend would have mentioned the Comrades he's about to run to the doctor.

From what I know about most Comrades runners is that they see the doctor for checkups before taking on such an event to ensure they can - but this may not be the case for all.

I may have come about a bit abrasive, as has been mentioned, but it grates my cheese when people pretend to know more than an expert, or is Google smart - as is the case for most internet boffins.

Just ask questions before you point fingers.

Ask nicely. People will be less likely to get riled up if you just ask nicely.

You also assumed that Chukky's friend asked the doctor. Don't pick a fight on an assumption. He is Chukky's friend, not yours.

The issue is, a LOT of good information is shared on the interweb. A LOT of rubbish is also shared. Being annoyed about the latter just puts you ten steps closer to cancer (opinion, not fact).

If you enjoy a ood discussion and aren't just a double poster or old hub member 'returning' to ruffle a few feathers, then I would suggest you keep the abrasiveness to a minimum and open your mind to discussion mode and not 'I'm right' mode.

If you are a feather ruffler, people will quickly lose patience... it's not worth it and the novelty soon wears off for all involved.

I do agree, ask your doctor. In all things medical. The internet is NOT the place to get 1st, 2nd, third of any medical opinions. If someone does ask, then the answers are just that. Opinions.... which is actually exactly what a doctor gives...
