Bike Box in an Uber! - will it fit?

You okes are amateurs. A bike box easily fits on the backseat of an Uber. The little ones. None of this XL cheating. I've done it several times with both an Evoc bike bag, as well as a cardboard box.

And here we are with two MTBs in boxes in the back of a Ford Figo, on the way to Sani2C (and bags etc).

those uber drivers must have seriously negatively rated you by now :P

I had a look at it yesterday and it's smaller than the box. Due to the wheels having to come off in the bag and the back wheel still on the bike when in the box. Plus it has straps which will make it a bit easier to lug around.

Just one question... when i take the back wheel off, what do I do with the derailleur? without the back wheel that's what the frame rests on. Do I loosen the hanger, twist it in and bubble wrap?

Take the RD off the hanger, wrap it and as much of the chain in bubble wrap and a bag.  Then just refit the RD once you reach your destination.  RD in a bike bag or a box is a point that often gets knocked.  If you temporarily remove it from the hanger, then you less likely to bend the hanger during transport

A Hyundai (or is it an Hyundai?) i10 takes 2 29er boxes, 2 bags and two passengers. I'd say with ease, but I'd be lying. The 4 hour trip from OR Tambo to Swaziland with your knees around your ears was probably more torturous than the ride that we did :P

I see your i10 and raise you my daughter's Fiat 500 I borrowed to get 2 bike boxes to Montagu and back from Winnie Mandela airport in Cape Town.

I taped some (quite a lot actually!) bubble wrap around the derailleur just to be safe.

Can we get the same picture and add a banana. For scale!

you could... but

1. It's a family site and

2. my banana won't be the same size as your banana, so it won't show the scale anyway.
