Whoooo made it through the 55km. I was riding with my brother in law who has not spent much time in the saddle and 0 training time, so ended up with a 3h43 (4h08 total time). He took serious punishment from the first checkpoint onwards so I was basically having a leisurely ride for most of the race.

I'm sure I could have managed a 3hr ride if I went at my pace. It must sound stupid to the 2hr racing snakes, but I felt pretth proud that I still felt fresh at the end. 2 months ago I would have died 20km in.

Track was very cool. Also my first time riding there. Lots of fun techy sections and variety.

I was however pretty disappointed in some aspects. The checkpoints had no food whatsoever which I was relying on, there was no finish line announcer, no medals, nada.

Definitely returning to BRB soon though!

I just remembered when I used to be one of the last ones to cross the line. Now I can also ride the full marathon at 85%.

The announcer was there earlier - even called our names out - and we got medals. He probably left after prize giving.

Well done on pushing through. Next one you’ll go even stronger.

Really fun race!! Anyone know where to get the pictures? If there were any photographers there of course.

Thanks Rookie! It is there... but it says it took me 3hrs+ to finish the 30km, which is very wrong  Do you know whether I should contact spectrumsports, racetec or cycleevents for this error?

I would try spectrum sports or Racetec first, Racetec did the timing on Spectrum Sports' behalf as far as I understand it

You are lucky - that old guy on the ebike fell in the river at the bridge just after that big drop off!!

he did too

i hope he never hurt himself

saw him often on the track

he just seemed like he wanted to have a quite ride

never got in anyone ways or forced anyone off the track

kudos to him

Thank you :)

Racetec responded today to saturday's email that I should contact Spectrum Sports. Spectrum Sports responded to today's email and thinks the IR scanned my board dring the 50km lineup sometime, but they adjusted it to the batch's start time and the world is in order again

Was it an old man riding an orange ebike? I parked next to him!

1/ Hated some of the rude entitled 30kmers shouting you're in their way.

2/ Was disappointed that when i got to the fork or finish or 55km at 10am was informed by the marshal that the 55km course was closed as they wanted everything clear by 12 and that the group of 55 kmers i was with has to go to the finish.

My pace was ave 14kph so i wasn't that slow

Agree there is no excuse for poor manners on the trail. Red barn is extremely hard to pass at and don’t underestimate how competitive the shorter distance race can be. But in saying that it’s not an excuse.

There should have been an announcement at the start if they were going to have a cut off at the split. At least then people could have been prepared or planned. Didn’t help that the front runners were flying at such a high pace they came back around to the split before many 55km riders got there for the first time.

Luckily he was ok after that fall. But that river is so SIF he's going to have an upset stomach for a while!
