Having recently spent a bit of time in a Specialized bike shop I was quite taken by the new Epic Evo xc/trail bike that has been recently released. A bike that can climb like a full blooded xc race bike and descend like a trail bike sounded like a perfect match for me.

I have a Yeti SBc4.5 which does just that so i didnt pay much more attention. As the weeks went by and a few more visits to the spesh shop i found myself looking more and more at the Epic.

But more so at the Evo version which has more travel in the front, wider bars, dropper seat post and wider tyres. The Evo however does not come in an S-works version and although the geometry of the frame is identical the carbon layup is the latest version 12 on the S-Works vs 11 on the Evo Expert.

I already had built up the Yeti with top parts that would plug and play directly into a S-Works Epic Frame but the result would be closer to an Evo than a traditional Epic.

So we stripped the Yeti and built what I believe to be the first S-Works version of an Evo, although I do see that Specialized UAE and Germany websites launched their versions a couple days ago.

Bike parts list as follows:

Sram Eagle XX1 Groupset

Hope V3 E4 brakes

Roval Control SL Carbon Wheels

XTR Pedals

Sella Italia XLR Saddle Carbon

Fox Step Cast 34 Factory 120mm Fork

Fox Transfer Dropper

Specialized Ground Control Grid front tyre

Specialized Fast Track Grid rear tyre

Syncros Hixon SL intergrated handlebar and stem

Some pics - sorry about the quality

Where did you see the S-Works versions of the Epic Evo????

I ride with a guy on an S-Works Epic Evo. Concept Cyclery Ballito supplied it.

10.2kg with pedals and sealant is pretty respectable!
