So even before the tour there are interesting movements...

Looks like an unhappy Sam Bennett could go to Katusha mid-season to plug the Kittel sized hole. No Giro because of Ackerman, no California or Tour because if Sagan.

Nibali to Trek, Landa to Marida, Tommy D looking to move as well.

BHG seems a tad top heavy with good sprinters (unique problem) but  leaving Sam out of the Giro after his successes last year and his good form, big mistake imho and could well understand it he moves quickly.

Sagan managed a win yesterday at ATOC, but just.... and one has to look far down the list for Cav although Reinardt van came in 14th.

Landa should settle down and focus on results

Anyone hear the pre-race interview with Yates? What a royal @$$hole. Never liked him and now I think he is even more of a box.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance..unfortunately he comes across as arrogant.. if he was trying to be humourous he failed terribly. There has to be that balance of adding spice while remaining respectful towards your opponents..

News floating around is Sagan won't be riding the 2020 TDF he will then also not ride the 2020 TOC as the plan is to ride the Giro. It is silly not give Sagan a go at claiming the green jersey one last time to have the most green jerseys wins... as neither Bennett or Ackerman can get themselves over those climbs in the hunt for intermediate points spread out all over the stages... so it really comes down to the team's objectives..

But difficult to keep everyone happy.. pretty sure Bennett will ride the Vuelta and then next year on to the TDF. It would be a mistake for Bennett ro go to Katusha, he will find himself competing with Zabel for a spot and Zabel has had to work for Kittel and can now start going for glory himself... he is also really quick..

I like Bennett and I hope he stays.. but I happy that Ackerman has been given a chance.

I am sure BHG know what they are doing ... however there was a gefoffle at the TDR recently with Sam, and he pulled out the race early, so things might not be going well in that relationship.

His withdrawal from TDR was purely because there were no more stages left for sprinters, team then shifted all focus to their climbers.

If you have a look you will see a lot of sprinters DNF that one

He cheesed off the Shark of  Messina who thought we was being told to go to the toilet but later came around to not taking what he said literally, and agreed a little pepper in the competition of the war of words can be a good thing,.

Confidence is good, little stoke in the fire is great.

Difference in personalities is brilliant in sport.

Yates is a quality bike rider and can back up comments if needed as is Sagan when he has made comments on similar tone and and and.

You would have to provide some quotes thx.. with Sagan it always the same.. we will see, it will be hard and anything can happen, there are many favourites... don't think he has ever told anyone that they should be sh!tting themselves because he the is favourite.

It doesn't matter what we think regardless.. just thought Yates seemed a bit arrogant ..and also a written article doesn't always reflect the tone in which things are said.. not like you can see his facial expressions.. but the media sure like getting the clicks.

3 weeks is very long and there is a lot of road to cover.

The poms aren't great at backing themselves and being bit bolshy. Aussies are and it sits well on them. When the english cricket team were best in the world and smashing the Aussies their confidence came off as being a bit arrogant. Truth is he came second on the 1st stage so only one other person was faster... it seems a pretty founded statement.

I've got no issues with it. If Yates is a rider who is confident enough to back himself then fair play. The yates bros have previously been so monosyllabic it was way more frustrating. If he fails then he has do deal with it and not the nay sayers wagging fingers. He is the rider in the giro who won the last GT so should be the favourite. Sagan is cocky but everyone says 'he's such a character'.  Nibali has said some pretty hilarious things in is career as well to the point of utter arrogance and has quite often lacked respect. Saying that the others should be pooping themselves is hilarious especially with Tommy D in the race. Seriously though, if he feels that all roads have come to this, his form and prep' are perfect and he has no doubt in his mind about his abilities in this race then why the hell not say it. Throw out some mind games but maybe don't get all potty mouth around the kids.

But back to the stage..

Wind wind and more wind expected today.

They said there may be a lot of bad weather this year. We saw just down the road at Imola the World SBK race was rained out too yesterday.
