Do you have difficulty reading or do you just see what you want to. I didn't say treat them like motorists treat cyclists, I said treat them like you would like the motorists to treat cyclists.

Are you serious?

AND...dont get uptight..its Friday...besides....would be more fun riding my bike from PMB to Durban or vice versa anyhow ...I digress ...I am merely an amateur as I was once told by a comrades runner BUT I spose I will find out come Addo in March.....

No uprightness, you new here... you want to stay around long be respectful and not a CHOP.!!

And talking of which, when you have a newbie pitch up to your oh so precious trail run totally unprepared.... rather than calling them a CHOP, why not open your mind, change your attitude and help or give them advice!!.... so that they can learn and enjoy the trails as you had to learn once!!

Interesting indeed...I am a trail runner..ONLY...I abhor the hard stuff...BUT herein also then lies the question...

When on a trail I am acutely aware of ANY MTBer on the trail ...not too difficult to catch a sound of a MTBer bombing down/along a given trail...I ALWAYS give way to them with a greeting along the lines...."Thanks for keeping the trails clean guys...".

Recently I have acquired a decent trail MTB and myself enjoy riding the trails ....AND ...many of the trails I run in my area I have "stolen" from MTBers off of STRAVA....

So as to runners , roadies as they are referred to , STOP being chops and let the cyclists go past safely ...very easy to hop up OR down from the pavement BUT then again roadies are not that nimble it seems ...hehe...maybe they should come run some trails....

I was blissfully unaware of the mtb vs road rivalry existing even when bikes are removed from the equation! Guess it pays doing all your training alone- you don't have to fight with people to sustain tradition

As living proof of someone who's received a gold-filled vault worth of advice and guidance from Shaper, I endorse this mentality!

In my running group we all like road and trail running. Nobody is an exclusive road or trail runner. Most of young fast guys prefer road running with us older folk moving more to trails

As long as you signal to the biker early on which direction you're going to move, otherwise you end up doing that awful 'dance' like when you run into someone in a corridor.

as far as I know, by law, you shouldn't even be on the road... Is that assumption right or have I got this all horribly wrong?

I agree, anyone using  public roads for any form of sport should be locked up.  They are built for us motorist to use to get places. They are a danger to themselves and an inconvenience to motorist.

Do they even pay to use the road ?? No they don`t

Seems you change your tune quickly.... as is not what you said earlier, perhaps you said it under your breath and not to their face as you offered him your other bottle.....perhaps listen to your granny more........

Aaahh...I got a bite....let me re phrase and apologise ....WHEN a roadie rocks up to run a trail with us and when the said roadie is TOLD to make sure they have hydration and rock up with a 350mil bottle in said hand and at the 15k mark ask where are the water points???...one word CHOP....BUT...each to his own and as my wise ole Granny once said ...you got nothing nice to say...keep quiet...the defence rests your honour...one more thing....running trails will certainly OPEN ones mind ....
