the nerd Posted December 2, 2018 Share Just read the news on Twitter that Paul Sherwen has passed away. Not many specifics at the moment, he was 62. His voice will be missed! https://twitter.com/nealrogers/status/1069326895412441088?s=21 https://twitter.com/teamdidata/status/1069328973115609088?s=

Dirt Tracker Posted December 2, 2018 Share "On the first day in the mountains of the 1985 Tour de France, Sherwen crashed in the first kilometre before the race had left Epinal. With Bernard Hinault setting a fast pace, Sherwen had little chance to regain the other riders. He rode solo for six hours over six mountains, accompanied by a motorcycle outrider, and was over an hour behind the stage winner, and 23 minutes outside the cut-off – the Tour publicity caravan had started its return journey and had to move to one side to allow Sherwen to complete the stage. However, again, his courage and endurance were rewarded by reinstatement – he did continue and went on to finish this Tour which would be his last." Dirt Tracker Posted December 2, 2018 Share Love him or hate him but anyone who knew a time when if you saw another cyclist you turned and chased them to have another person to ride with, when you tried not to get beaten up for being a guys an having shaved legs and results took weeks to be published then he an Phil were the voices of cycling. Lemonds Tour win on the final TT, Roche catching Delgado on La Plange their voices were etched on the sport and our memories. Bonus Posted December 2, 2018 Share Damn :-( This is sad news. I know the "Phil and Paul Show" gets a lot of stick from all of us armchair professional commentators, but as mentioned above, they were who we listened to in the days before the internet and satellite TV. So many classic quotes . . . . I'll miss him. Cav', Pikey, Gen and 2 others
