Entered. My first 100miler! Excited about it but also slightly bekarking myself. I have ridden the 50miler twice and both times the thought that it was only the half distance and I wish I still had another 50miles to go never crossed my mind.

did it last year,  Can't remember anything tough .. long country roads for ages , few lazy climbs. Sure you can do it on road bike if you brave enough.

Most top guys do it on gravel bike .. its just the corrugation that is issue.  (I might also just be dilutional)

Route sounds the same as last year, here strava route:  https://www.strava.com/routes/17518548

2354m climbing ??? On the website they claim 1950m climbing.....that extra 404m of climbing can break me mentally at the end....... :-) :-)

The main trick with these distance is always move

don't go daddle at feed stations.   Stop, fill bottles, stuff face, stuff pockets and go .. then chew/swallow on the bike.

I see so many people sitting at stops for 5-15 minutes, after 5  stops that is easy 25-1hr extra.

Can't be looking at the elevation on your Garmin on a ride -- I find it too inaccurate to be a reliable way to prepare my mind for the effort.

In fact I'm finding more and more in events that I only look at time, average speed and distance and far less frequently than I used to.

I never look …. I ask others.   make it a conversation topic :)

sometimes I simply ride feed station to feed station, then its only 30km ride.  a few times

Can't wait did a 125km ride this morning in preparation......

Think its all about pacing, not going to hard in the first 100km, so that legs can still feel

"fresh" later on.

Well that's how I'm thinking of riding, and then the gun goes off and we race till we bleed out of our eyeballs

But then again my first time riding this distance, so what do I know [emoji12]

Thanks. I think this is good advice for me. Keep moving as you are not covering ground while hanging around at the waterpoints. Once off the bike, I do tend to linger a bit.

It has also been suggested to rather rely on your own packed nutrition than too heavily on what the waterpoints have to offer. So waterpoints will be a quick reload and off you go again.

Second half hillier than the first so save something for the later stages.

looking like I'll be seriously undercooked come the 13th April. starting to worry a tad, but the entry's entered, tyres fitted... nothing to do but start I guess.

any ideas on what the feed stations will have on offer? by that I mean, what will be left at the feed stations when I get there late?

10:30 minutes for 160 km.

If we round it a bit, you need to do 16 km/h and not stop anywhere.

I just did the world funride.

Should I or should I not....

What do you guys eat on an event like this?

(Event not race, no way that I can race this)

Does anyone know the exact elevation for this event???

Last year my Bryton recorded 2350m.

I would have liked to do it again this year, but a week after the cederberg 100 miler is a bit hard on the body.

Why did the move the date?
