Gravel Bike Self Build

If you're going this route, ive got cable disc calipers, and a mate of mine has a 29 rigid fork. Pm me if youre interested.

Use a 26er rigid fork - 440mm axle to crown

It will pull the Geo more in line with what you want in a gravel bike

(I see you already went with a 29er one.)

Must make a mental note to give that a go, thanks!

Its done!

I took it out for a spin.  Goes nicely.  I haven't ridden a rigid bike for many years, so it's going to take a while to get used to.

I need to shorten the brake hoses though.

AWESOME looking machine.

and congrats on (re?)joining the silver spoke revolution  .

i had my last bike/wheel set built in silver spokes and hope hubs and the change is refreshing to say the least. Looks super clean. The murdered out 'plastic' all black wheel look is so 2005 imo.

You usually end up with something way nice if you do the exact opposite of what is trendy  ^_^ :whistling:

So as luck would have it a mate needed a set of down tube shifters and accompanying brakes for an old Alan which he is busy restoring ... it just so happens I had the ones in the picture available. What made it lucky was that he had just stripped a 26" single speed rigid to build it back to a normal MTB for his son and had a spare fork - sorted!

He was happy with a straight swop so I have replaced the existing rather agricultural looking 29" rigid with a 26" one as per the pics ... will ride it over the next few days and see how it feels and report back. 91286d8fceabdbb970ea1eaa7bb19cd3.jpga0a8b93c15bc1610710766db1ad5e73f.jpga1aac8202fe96729b02890bda1096c57.jpg
