i have a cyclocross bike which i am wanting to use on the gravel around our farm. the roads are very sandy and corrugated and so the 38 mm cyclocross tyres are just not fat enough. i need nice fat mtb tyres. i tried putting 29er tyres onto my current 700 wheels. It worked ok in front, but the back wheel did not work out - not enough space. So I now I need to try and fit some 27.5 wheels onto the bike. The problem is that the front wheel runs a 15mm axle and there are not many ( affordable) 27.5 wheels with 15mm axles out there. So my question Can I run a 29er in front and a 27.5 at the back? in my head it makes sense because the front will have extra rolling momentium over rocks etc while you will get a bit more drive out of the back - like a MX motorbike.

It's all the rage... it's the new 'must have' in the industry just check the new YT ebike.

Your problem is the cyclocross bike rear chain stays are too close together near the bb which won’t allow a fat tyre. You at get a 2.0 MTB tyre inthere in 27.5 but it depends on the bike so you need to supply more information for adequate responses

Think a 32er on the front and 29er on the rear will be a gentler ride with more power transfer  :whistling:

wheres the lie though? a 29x3" front will get you close to that lol
