Garmin versus Huawei

So my wife's firm has given her a new phone.

A Huawei P10 lite.

We have tried and tried but we can get her Garmin Forerunner 735XT to link to the Huawei.

Googled it.

Its a known issue. They dont link.

My question is 2 fold.

Has anyone figured out a work around to the above.

The 2nd question is more of a vent.

Neither Garmin nor Huawei are small companies.

Cant they sit together and sort out this stuff that the 2 products can link to one another.

Do you mean through the garmin connect, or for notifications?

I have a P10 lite and my garmin-forerunner-30 works perfectly through the app, I haven't tried the notification yet.

Same issue with my P20 and my Garmin(s)

Cant remember exactly what I did but they both (edge 520 and Fenix 5x) work perfectly now with the phone.

In the battery settings for battery usage you have to set the app launch to manage manually or the phone will dump the connection to save battery... pretty pointless as my battery lasts a full day and a half with fairly heavy usage and watch always connected.

Huawei do not play nice with most other Bluetooth devices. This includes my Garmin, Wahoo and even discovery thingy. IT works some times, but a pain in the ass most of the time to get to connect. By this I mean turning Bluetooth on and off or restarting phone usually gets it going. Next phone will not be a Huawei.

Google just pulled Huawei's license to use android on all future devices. That alone rules out any and all Huawei devices for me.

Unfortunately so, same here. I can't help but think that it's another round of "china fear" doing hte rounds.

It's okay if we spy on you, but you can't do anything that we think looks even remotely like monitoring and collecting info, which is what we do all the time but that's not the same thing....

Huawei did business with Iran and violated US sanctions, so Google, Qualcomm, Intel have ceased doing business with them, from some article I read.

Ah, cool. That makes a lot more sense. Still, what I've posted above has been the narrative for a while now.

They stopped because of a US legal requirement.  I'm sure they'd want the money otherwise.

It's also not because of any potential trade with Iran.  It's either because:

- China uses Huawei to spy (US hasn't provided details)

- US cannot use Huawei to spy like they use Cisco and Qualcomm to spy

or maybe both.

Not exactly the same as you, but my P20 and fenix 3 sync fine.

Switch on both bluetooths, phone says something about access required, notifications have stopped, blah blah, but garmin connect updates fine and thats all I need. both bluetooths off straight after upload done.

Sorry for the hi-jack, how you guys finding your P10 lite batteries ... 1 and a bit years in and it can show 40%, then a few moments later just drop down to 0% and switch off!
