RobertWhitehead Posted June 4, 2019 Share I've been wondering if there's anyone out there that has a smart trainer which they're not using at the moment and would be willing to rent it out? I mean it's actually quite a good idea if one think about it for a while, I mean we already rent bikes at the various parks why not rent out a trainer standing at home gathering dust? I mean sure, there was some risks involved when the person came up with Air BnB as well
shaper Posted June 4, 2019 Share You can finance a trainer perhaps rather than renting it https://nsquared.co.za/pages/bike-and-equipment-finance

Dexter-morgan Posted June 4, 2019 Share Why not just join Paincave or a crank it studio for the winter months coppi, slickjay007 and Christian van Zyl
RobertWhitehead Posted June 4, 2019 Share I would guess the smart trainer rental would be more convenient and possibly even cheaper. I mean I'm just spit balling here, maybe its a k@k idea, I mean I'm always full of those Why not just join Paincave or a crank it studio for the winter months

The Ouzo Posted June 4, 2019 Share I would guess the smart trainer rental would be more convenient and possibly even cheaper. I mean I'm just spit balling here, maybe its a k@k idea, I mean I'm always full of those the problem I see is who will cover the maintenance/repair costs ? people tend to treat rental equipment really badly, I would not want my 20k+ smart trainer being abused by some stranger. daniemare Posted June 4, 2019 Share Buy it used, sell it used. Difference = your rental. I just bought a Cyclops Hammer for R7,000. If I sell it after the winter for R5,000, then I paid R2,000 or R500pm. Can't really see renting it for anything less. Opc_danny Posted June 5, 2019 Share Would be nice if there was a rent to own option say over 12 months etc I would guess the smart trainer rental would be more convenient and possibly even cheaper. Opc_danny Posted June 5, 2019 Share Maybe like how Avis treats rental cars etc but yeah i agree with you about the abusing tho, you dont know whats gone down with your trainer. the problem I see is who will cover the maintenance/repair costs ? people tend to treat rental equipment really badly, I would not want my 20k+ smart trainer being abused by some stranger. I made a profit on a kickr after 3 months, so if you have the capital it can be done....
